Probably won't be many cars with manual then since, according to rumours, the 2018 allocations are limited, if any at all Smiley

Correct. My dealer told me a couple of weeks ago that US production for the GT3 starts in September for the PDK and October for MT.

I probably will get mine in spring of 2019 if I am lucky Smiley

They'll build enough cars for every last person who wants one. As bluelines said, it will be the highest produced GT3 ever.

This is pure bs and you know that. It never happened with the 991.1 GT3 and it even didn't happen with the GT3 RS. I know a couple of people who didn't get a car (and badly wanted one) because dealers didn't have allocations anymore. One or two may have bought used ones at a premium, which certainly is "every last person who wants one gets one" but...at a cost. Smiley

Regarding manuals: I heard it may be a rare breed. Porsche calculated only a limited manual production!

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

That makes total sense, Porsche spent all the R&D on offering a manual transmission to meet the critique from the 991.1 GT3 just to make the option limited

If Porsche could build 6000 991.2 GT3 RS they could no doubt build well over 10000 991.2 GT3.

The only people who didn't get them are the people who slept on it until it was too late. Waiting until it's late into production is not the same as there not being enough supply. It's simply a case of waiting to long. Go into your dealer today and tell them you want a GT3. You'll get one.

That is just not true.  For more than a week I have contacted every dealer in twenty states around me. They bluntly tell you that there are not enough and it will not happen.  Not like I'm not offering cash or don't have an ownership history. 38 years of drIving 911s every day means nothing.

Got to be a US thing. Impossible to order a Ferrari too, but here in Europe you can walk into any dealer.

It is, the dealers cornered the allocations so they can tack on 'market adjustments'.

That one item makes it hard to get a car, and turned into a feeding frenzy that feeds itself, a self-sustaining cycle. If a car seems hard to get, it must be worth something and one has to get one at all cost in order to reap the gains.

There you go. Special and limited in one, thanks to the dealers' behaviour.

Is it true US dealers are still waiting for allocation?  Sun's NZ order is placed but Isringhausen where he's bought numerous cars says he has to wait?

Try contacting Porsche Farmington Hills in Michigan. They don't markup anything or play any games. Some better customers get first dibs, but if they can get you one, they will and there won't be any special requirements.

Dealers usually get a first batch of allocations and then, a few month later , another batch . You should just stay in there , insist and call regularly , and wait for the next allocation batch .

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

There is an article circulating that states the sport mode has, in addition to auto blip, no lift upshifts for the manual gearbox.  True?

Honestly what is the point of a manual at that point?

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

So you more or less don't have to operate the clutch? LOL. That couldn't possibly be true.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

You operate the clutch but may not have to lift from the throttle during upshifts.

Watt, your dealer will get his allocation before any US dealer. We in the US have to wait. US cars will begin to be built in September.surprise

I don't know if the GT3 has this feature, but it is done in some other cars (like Aston-Martin's new 7spd manual).  With ECU control of the electronic throttle, it's easy to have the car lift for you.  But I'd be surprised since the GT4 doesn't have this (it does have some rev-matching on up-shifts though and maybe this is what the GT3 has too)

Even more reason to sustain the argument that manual has no place in a sport car this decade...

    Link?

Can it be that "No lift" assists you so that the revs don't drop too much?

BTW: There is still a lot of interaction done: clutch release, gear lever must be moved, the exciting risk of a money shift is still there....

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

My sales guy just called and asked for my spec, just to be ready.  He mentioned they still don't have allocation information yet.  I honestly would prefer to move away from black wheels but there are so many black trim pieces I think silver wheels / lights starts getting busy.  My request is for PTS - Mexico Blue or Golf Blue but I don't have high expectations.  So for now it's either Sapphire or Lava (my uncle had a Blutorange 912 in his youth and Lava is as close as you can get).  Other than that it's LWB's, LED's, lift (I need it) and not much else.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

Black wheels are losing their appeal. Silver wheels with Sapphire Blue would be perfect.kiss

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

I hear you, if I get PTS I probably would go silver and get the lower mirror arms and wing end plates painted or wrapped in body color.  Probably will be waffling on this back and forth...
