JoeRockhead:Congrats. Hope he enjoys it.
Thanks Sun says he will.
Meanwhile Sky put the hammer down in his power wagon and went to see his Boy at Stanford Parent's Weekend. What a rocket!!! 0-60 is 3.6 sec, but 70-120 passing shred unbelieveable!!!! He kinda forgot how fg fast it it is!!!!
Always ready to get back in his shred wagon
Sky is rollin' on strongly. His next goal is making Graduation in June, and then he plans to make his 14th Birthday 1 September, 2016. Please wish him Luck
At Electric Broccoli Forest; that's the name of his Boy's organic living place...
apias:Very happy to see that Sky has resumed his road trips.
Yes the Lord has decided to keep him going smiling, happy and cute We need to lift up his back end half the time and no stairs up, needs a push up the front steps, but toddles along nicely. And loves his steaks!!
Meanwhile, Macca visited the dealership and saw Sun's rig getting ready to run
Excellent pics! You truly use your car like no one else
What are your thoughts about the GT4? Except for it being insane and awesome, of course
2015 981 Cayman GT4 | White | Full Bucket Seats | Sport Chrono
2014 991 Carrera 4S | Dark Blue Metallic | PDK | Sport Chrono | SPASM
Gnil:Cups 2 have been specially developed for sand
how do you like the car compared to your last GT3 ?
The cups also aren't too bad in the rain, at least as good as the SS, but we haven't had deep standing water to try yet....
The GT4 is quite amusing, and for NZ a plus in being much lower profile. Sun fit all his stuff for 18 day road trip with 4 track days, but it sure wouldnt work if he had invited two humans. But that's true for 991 as well.... The front end is good looking and it behaves as expected.
The buckets are perfect, much better than the GT2 seats in the 2015 GT3.
For open B roads and lesser numbered routes the gears are ok. I see the little torque bump at 4500, but the car "comes on the cam" almost like a 2.4 litre 1973 S at 5800. This makes a narrow power band to 7500, and for my use the gear set is way too high. Like my S I need a set that redlines at 140 mph in top gear. On these bumpy narrow roads one rarely runs harder than 180 kmh with taps to 200 [120 mph]. I understand its different in FRG. It's been OK on open roads with 60+ kmh corners but take it to the 6 between Haast and Greymouth where the GT3 excelled in 100 1st gear and 300 2nd gear uphill corners --- this car would be disaster. The 6 for those who know Malibu is like Las Flores Canyon Rd 150 miles long. We've just been hitting 7000 today so maybe at redline and with heavy first gear use it will all work out.... maybe
So the GT3 is geared way better and had more power but I think part of the reason they geared the GT4 too tall was to slow it in comparison with 991s. But the GT4 is an accomplishment with the wrong gear set. I hope they deliver a lower rear end
Translated from Sun's original Maori. He will more to say at the track and at redline

Haha
He got back to regular mountain dirt; he loves it!!
He's really high on it
Sun is now running to the redline. This car is magnificent!! The image that comes to mind regarding the design unity, is carved from a single block of titanium. So integrated in handling.
And thank you Porsche for the strong wheels, Sun tested them
We ran out of the range into the rain and it's so well planted and firm at speed in the rain. [Did we unsettle the perfection of the GT3 by switching from cup2s?]. Hardly had to slow.
shifting from 2nd at 125 kmh you land on the cam [say 5600] in 3rd so that's smooth. But WTF is with 1st to 2nd? You leave 1st about 75 and fall way off the cam in the 4000s in 2nd. Is this the old expression; "first gear eez forr puttinnggg zeee carr off and on zeee trailer?". We did hit some 1-2 hairpins and going up 1-2 is just not on but the older gt3s were just as bad.
With so little power you need to think your passes like .... a 73 S... and same level of fun. and since the snap your fingers passing power of the GT3 is nice, but most of the performance is wasted on the road. This car perfectly suits the road here, but for the gear set issues..
Sun was back on the metal every chance he had, and you realise it's a mid engine car on metal!!!
