    Sort of on topic:

This one is for you Grant:
Really nice car. Unfortunately it hit Mr Armco at Klostertal a couple of minutes later. :-(

Oh crap!  I hope it was not a real 67R and I hope the guy was ok?

Not sure if it was a real 67R or not. The guy was OK but a bit chocked. There where 24 McLarens there, F488, 991 GT3RS:s, Astons, but this was the finest of them all in mu opinion... Sad - but he used the car properly.

That looks more like an ST recreation (I would assume a recreation given the value of an original ST, but one never knows).  The original 67' R never had the rear flared fenders and neither the Minilite wheels.

Thinking about it I can  verify that it didn't have the round rear lights of the 67R. Nevertheless as really nice car.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 R (2016)

@Kobalt  furthermore all R were based on a Short Wheel Base chassis . The 911 in the video is a Long Wheel Base chassis (introduced with model year 69'). Nevertheless very nice 911 , I hope the damage was not significant .

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade but the issue is not whether you're a good and safe driver but whether you can trust the other drivers on the track. At speed anything can happen. They don't need to collide with you but spin out in front of you. Unless everyone adheres to a certain speed and follows one another, the risk of a collision is great. That is why insurance companies exclude coverage for track events.

Good drivers "think" for and of the other drivers as well...this what actually separates a very good driver from an equally skilled good driver. I usually try to watch their rear view mirrors, their heads and their (initial) driving behavior/pattern, this really helps. Also if they drive a clean line or not (many drivers who are jerks on the road are even bigger jerks on the track Smiley). If I notice an aggressive driving behavior, I back off. I'm 50, I have nothing to prove anymore and it only costs me money if something goes wrong, so... Smiley However, I have to admit that sometimes, people just p.ss me off because they put me and others in danger and then they brag about how faster they were in their less expensive car... I learned to ignore this but it still p.ss.s me off. Smiley

I agree however that shit...happens. There is no 100% safety, no matter how good or skilled you are. It helps however if you have skills, experience and a bit of brains because in the end, everyone pays for his own sh.t (damage) and this really hurts if and when it happens.

Back to topic (R): I really don't understand why so many people are reading reviews or watching YouTube videos about the 911 R, especially if they do not get this car? Smiley A guy I know did that for the past couple of days, he badly wanted one and now after reading all those reviews and watching all those videos, he is so angry at Porsche that he couldn't get one. So what's the point to suffer? Smiley I asked him why he bothered and he told me that he really loves this car but he doesn't really feel any better now, on the contrary.

991R is a great 911, no doubt.  But I do not care that I cannot get one.  The next GT3 in manual will offer similar driving experience.  I'm on list but not sure I will proceed.  I don't need one more 911.  Garage space is always a bigger problem than buying cars.

Well, one could always rent or buy more garage space.  Wish that was my only concern about adding more cars Smiley

We always discussed this topic among our friends.  Talk about buying a warehouse together to park cars, what kind of security system to install, etc.  The conclusion is that if the cars are not in our immediate garages at home, we will end up not using them, and may just visit them sporadically whenever we have free time on weekends.  None of us consider ourselves as cars collectors.  Don't want to park some cars far away from home and just sit there.  But the current "old" cars that we have and we don't want to sell.  Really a first class problem that only we can share on car forums.Smiley

What's the consensus on the front light options for the R? Single lense Xenon or the Double Lense LED?

    Whatever you fancy more... Smiley

The LED provides an excellent light at night but I chose the Xenon (black) for my GTS because I think it looks better.

Matter of taste only (I guess) but if you need the best light available, LED it is.
