Could be a really enjoyable drivers car this...

I would order it like it is...just with a single mass flywheel (who cares about additional noise? Smiley) and with black painted rims. Smiley No A/C or audio...pure. This is what the R is all about. Smiley A real weekend toy car.

I would think twice about not speccing A/C, I have that spec on my RS and it's not at all enjoyable in summertime. I'm all for lightness, but the next car will have A/C. Smiley

why should you? get a GT3 991.2 instead. better car all the way.

    I hate rear wings... Smiley

people tell me the gt3 wing is iconic:::))))

btw,i think the carrera type spoiler looks much worse. no idea whether the R has that though

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 R (2016)

Wings are never iconic...but I like them more than the "iconic" ducktail.

Yes, the Carrera wing is not a beauty but at least I do not carry it around in the city.

Whenever I'm in the US, basically every Porsche I see (minus Cayenne/Macan), has the spoiler/wing raised, even when parked. We had two Panamera Turbo at our beach hotel in Miami and both had the rear wing deployed. Ridiculous.

In summer time, I am driving with an open top in my current 991 C4 GTS Cab, so A/C doesn't help much anyway. Same goes to my previous coupes, I usually completely opened the windows instead of using the A/C, I love heat. Smiley

So true about the spoilers here in South Florida.  Looks utterly ridiculous. I would love have this car but I can no  longer clutch safely or efficiently (toll of advancing age) and the PDK is a must have.  Not sure why this 911 R formula  couldn't be added to the normal GT3/RS line up w/ choice of transmission for each model.  Perhaps disappointment and frustration for some on a random basis are part of the Porsche marketing strategy? Re: OFFICIAL: 911 R (2016)

Rear axle is differently calibrated - more to behave like a mid-engine car. What I found interesting is that the car has front Zero lift and back slight downforce - so much about the difference of having a wing and proper downforce - huge difference angel

I'm questioning if I should sell my GT4 for this. I really don't need both of them however this is double the price of the GT4. I'm already having a sleepless night right now! (It's almost 1am). But I don't even know if I can still get one anyway.

Hmm... Do you like idea of manual gearbox that much?

Or to put it little bit differently is your 991 GT3 RS not involving enough?

Also, do not forget that 991.2 GT3 is coming for sure...

Yes, but it will be still something different to this 911 R.

I think the 911 R is more worth keeping then 911 GT3 RS and much more then any GT3.

if you go on track regulary keep the GT3 RS, if you are a more road mountain racer buy a R more polyvalent than the rs ;)

Nah. The R seems special now, but give it 2-3 years and I suspect Porsche has got more exciting things to come. The RS will always be an RS.

I think Porsche has finally got it now, there is a big demand for more "simple" cars like the GT4 and the R. Expect more to come.
