So does the car actually carry any premium components over a cheaper GT3 and RS, or is it just a special edition price?

What do the GT3 and RS weigh on comparison?

No premium components over 991.1 GT3 or 991.1 GT3 RS.

991 R is slower on the track and in straight line then 991.1 GT3/GT3 RS.

But, it offer unique manual gearbox. It counts night and day difference for die hard manual gearbox fans.

PCCB is a $9k option on GT3/RS, so it effectively makes it cheaper than RS (if one wants those brakes).  I wonder if it has a very different suspension tuning from GT3 - you can see the PASM button on the photos...

Maybe, but I am not the engineer, let them make it happen... Ferrari does the SA so there is something they can do.

Over 60% of all 911 Rs will end in speculators hands. Just look at 991 GT3 RS offer on mobile.de...

Here is the inspiration for that look (Porsche should have made smaller 5-lug Fuchs wheels, instead of GT3 parts):

Hmm, the rumor is real. There will be a new car at Geneva smiley but we have basically seen it here already and the spec is also posted before.

also learn about the next GT3 plus another special product that 'might' come to market, which will be very very special, basically everyone here wanted it right here right now.

Very curious to hear what the special product might be. I wonder if it'll be mentioned in an interview.

Thanks for the details that you provided!

    It seems so.

Btw, 991 units and if someone is really interested it is not strictly sold out yet...

So the current GT3/RS engine has been phased out?

This is what I heard from my P source as well. 991.2 GT3 will use new engine.

    This is not correct.

991 GT3 MA175 started with non designated engine and moved to E (replacement stop sale), F (MY2015) and G (MY2016).

So what AP means is 991 GT3 engine was really Version 1.0-1.4. The G engine in 991 GT3 has the updated oil pump, filter, sump, squirters etc from the MA176 MY2016 991 GT3RS. Infact the engine is now almost identical (improved finger rockers and spirngs) although it does not have the crankshaft of teh RS or the enlarged capacity. We call the 991 RS MA176 engine Version 1.5 then.

The Motorsports 9A1 (MA17X) is in basis teh MA175/6 unit but with all the series updates and then further updates in Nov 2016 to ensure its robustness for racing. There was even minor fettling of ECU maps and exhaust happening over Xmas.

The 911R engine is the MA176 based engine with different intake runners and mapping as the packaging is different. It may have further running revisions to oiling taken from Motorsports lessons late last year. I think to say its version 2.0 is a little inacurate, more like version 1.8.

They are not "throwing the engine out". PMS are very happy with the debut of the MA176X and expect it to see service for a few years until rule changes call otherwise (Turbo).

Macca - Do you expect 991.2 GT3 motor to have 176 or a new designation?  Thanks!

Your info is correct. But, 991.2 GT3 will use something like MA177(or MA176.2 or whatever) engine revision.

Any words on when we can expect 991.2 GT3?

macca993:There was even minor fettling of ECU maps and exhaust happening over Xmas.

Mine went in to Porsche Reading in January and came out feeling much different when coming home in it down the motorway. She was in for a thermostat change but the guy said some other updates were done. She was noisier and had more torque, it was very blatant.

Is it possible that the fettling you describe could have been done??....

I wonder if any of the current cars (aside from those that are already honoring a previous car) will ever be cherished as classics.  Somehow I think in 50 years, we're more likely to see the 100th anniversary 911R than the 50th anniversary 991.

Maybe the 50th for the GT4 (for you Bluelines) SmileySmiley
