Mezger:Every new car is AP`s favorite car of all time 😂
Indeed. Like he ever would or could say anything different. I bet he likes the 997 RS 4.0l more

ISUK:Photo of the Geneva stand. It looks like the 911R to the right of the photo but any speculation as to what is under the cover on the left? The bonnet seems fairly long and low which may just be down to a trick of the angle of the shot.
That's a photoshop of last year's GT3 RS / GT4 presentation. They've removed the wings from both cars and also erased a partially visible Audi logo from the next stand. The original is about half way down this page, 2nd in Porsche section : http://www.motoridilusso.com/salone-di-ginevra-2015-tutte-le-supercar-dell85esima-edizione/

MOST interesting item to me , if true, is the supposed shorter geared 6 speed manual ...imagining being able to zzzzing to redline in third gear on a winding road ....been a long time any new 911 could do that and be ( hopefully ) well under 100 mph
everthing else is just a same or reduced version of what you can get on a GT3, GT3RS or even Carrera GTS/ S
and if this is the last of a factory short ratio manual 6 speed / normal aspirated engined ever , THAT will be its signature reason for its future appreciation, not prod numbers , being wingless ,having higher slip angle narrower tires for a more vintage slip and slide road feel or special interior or exterior looks ...because you can do that to current cars if you wanna with enough time , effort and money and even reverse it all....

NO PTS for the R.
Outside of the standard white and GT Silver, Lava Orange, Ultraviolet and flat black is the currently approved 'PTS'. They are actually consider that way as it's not on the order book not published but is orderable.
And yes, the next GT3 can be had with manual, they had already developed a special 6-speed for the R, so it's only natural to offer it for the next GT3.
Projected product mix is 40% manual 60% PDK. Quite a bit optimistic if you ask me about the market for manual.

If you think that's the last of the variant of factory manual 6-speed, you will be VERY disappointed if AP and FW has their way. Their concept is THE car to have. Only hint I can give out is that it will be a 911 variant, the name of it is only used sparingly for the last 60 years or so. Us 918 owners gave them great feedback on what direction they should go. So blame us if it doesn't go what you think it might go, cause the direction is what US wanted. Well consider the 918 owner will likely grab every single one produced, it's very understandable.
The R will the slowest variant with the 'motorsports' engine. It will be slower than the GT3 and the RS no less. The basic principle for the R is that they are making a car with manual transmission, that will have motorsports heritage, but it will be slower than the normal variants, but will have more sensory engagement. So a car that makes you feels like you are going fast when you are actually going super slow, because it's a manual. (It will have even less sound insulation than the RS)
The weight quoted was from radio delete, A/C delete, so if someone want those back, then the weight will be higher.
991 cars is already more than they wanted to make. Just because we reminded them that there are almost 800 918 owners world wide.
We have already placed orders for the R and the next GT3. The 20 or so owners present here has the very first dib. The rest of the USA 918 owner also already notified that they can claim theirs. So perhaps another 200 gone from the US market. One USA owner here already ordered 3, cause he has 3 918s, some ordered 2, just to see if the order will go through.

so Porsche is planning for this supposedly " old school " short geared 6 spd manual for " large " volume sale ...911R first and then as regular option for 991.2 GT3 ? ....how will that satisfy emissions and or efficiency targets manufacturers are all sweating over ?
or will it be advertising smoke and mirrors : i.e., still very long legged below 140 mph while basically combining the 5th/6th gear ratio into a single averaged one ?

I guess this is it.
http://www.autozeitung.de/auto-neuheiten/porsche-911-r-handschaltung#
- Has the RS motor
- 500HP
- 1370 kg (50kg less than RS)
- 0-100 in 3.8 seconds
- 190k euros to buy
Nice rumors. Still not one 911 that would tick the boxes today or in the near future...
That concept would be stunning if there was no roof, after all the 918 is a spider... And we all know that since you can't exploit the performance package on the road, no roof enhances greatly the experience. Think 458SA...
