I look at those pics and my brain says.... 35C, no water, going to die.... (I know the area; have done geology work in the surrounding hills...). But I suppose no hotter than lots of tracks in the southern US, and they deal with it.

Asphalt going down.
But instead of me describing it, I will send you guys off on a link, someone else already wrote a very nice piece with pictures.

BjoernB:Flying over that crest and breaking before left must be epic......
This one?
You actually take a right and climb up this hill, then do a banked 180 and go back down the other way, a short down hill straight then a right-left-right combo, but that left there in the middle is on another crest and a blind apex.

The mixture is tuned to handle the heat in the desert, so they will hold their shape better especially with our undulations. It's not optimized for ultimate grip, which will not be a problem as the ambient heat will means tires will be at optimal temperature very quickly. Might even be too hot for some tires
A little tidbit:
For our track, which is 40ft wide, roughly it will have a surface area of 633,600 sq ft, which is around 14.5 acres.
For the 2 layers, we will use up around 20,000 cubic yards of asphalt, which is around 40,000 tons. About 2000 trunk loads.
At least we make the asphalt on site.

The track construction appears to be progressing well. Hopefully this track will not face the same challenges that other tracks like Laguna Seca and even Spa in Belgium face - noise restrictions due to local complaints. It seems as though this track is remote enough that it will not be an issue.

That will never be a problem, the Indian band owns every piece of land around the track and the Chief is a big gear head, rolls around in a modified loud Harley!. In other words, he loved the noise!
