Unfortunately Andrew Frankel continues to be one of the least reliable sources of information out there. The spec is already fully known by some - a full marketing brochure already doing the rounds under NDA to key media outlets. We will known sure enough next weekend. I think the info on RL most accurate to date - white/silver with red/green stripes as option, manual, 4.0L.

Info from macca is correct, being friend with the French works drivers I've known about this car for a while now, narrow body of GT3, 911 cars worldwide which is too much imo. Nice retro tartan style seats. Nice car but not amazing.
Something huge is coming next year and it wears the RS badge. Can't say more.

So they couldn't resist to raise production numbers from the previously planned 600 cars? I guess they realized how many they can sell, so 911 makes more sense and sounds better.
GT2 RS? Cayman GT4 RS? Well...

GT2 RS? Cayman GT4 RS? Well...
Porsche 991 GT2 RS -- yes (will have hybrid boost)
Porsche Cayman GT4 RS -- yes, 100% confirmed
It's also worth keeping in mind that Porsche is looking to homologate a mid-engined GT Le Mans racer...

WHooo!!! it's a mule with the good seat of the R!! i think we see on the final product a completely dashboard redesigned. more lightweight, new gearbox system... the basis is a GT3 for sure and the mule of the GT3 we see later is a R mule for sure not a GT3.2... you have more picture?
997 GT3 RS 3.6 - 964 RS - 991 GT3 RS
If you look closely on the second pic I posted, there's a "911 R" on the rev meter. So I'm not sure if we can expect a redesigned dashboard...

Why are they covering the whole center console not many people care about the manual vs pdk, it's too late and the price which will be underwhelming, along with the dealer playing hardball on finding you a build slot for 2017.
The first people that will screw you hard are your local OPC when it comes to resale value and the manual part which isn't in demand.
I guess this 911 is one of those midlife crisis cars

uhh ....any company selling a retail consumer product with a rabid informed consumer base in this intant media age has to keep a few " secrets " for its official unveiling date , even if they have to interject some disinformation into public interweb discourse ..and for this model , the critical two i items in this model to obfuscate are of course , the transmission and the engine choice since we know they are going for supposedly more classic / retro public road seat of the pants feel " vs absolute track speed in the " GT#" version by reducing aero and tire patch..look at how this thread for months and months has the same daily redundant questions/ statements/ disputed "truths " posts , which is exactly what the PR minions at Porsche are tasked to do and are pleased about .....and your post is a testament to their success in doing so !

Lukas:Why hide the center console when you can just check the steering wheel and see that there are no paddle shifters
to hide the manual shift knob's height and or design ...plus , even if it showed a manual shifter and there was a picture of its clutch pedal on the floor,Porsche PR minions could just discretely post an old early test mulephoto of one with PDK system that was just used for " R " suspension / wingless aero calibration , right ? Easy peasy in this interweb age to influence / manipulate anyone/ anytime / anyhow !

Let's see how it will be priced and how many will jump on it and put it up for sale to make a quick profit.
Oh yeah, the never ending recalls will be another interesting topic which is still ongoing up to this day
They need to fix their sh*t instead of expanding the 911 lineup and making a fool out of the consumer with new badges and lap times
