m4ever:LP997:heard 4.0 l also...but...
Same here 4.0 from the RS and 500 Hp
Power rating of 500 hp is unlikely, I heard 470-480 hp.
Latest rumor was 4.0 l engine but the 3.8 l engine would work as well and would be cheaper to use.
I don't have any information about the gearbox, sorry but apparently manual is pretty much sure.
Yes, there will be very likely be a 991.2 GT3, no turbo and no 500 hp (490 hp was the latest I heard) and yes, this car could get manual optional and including AWS(!).

RC:Yes, AWS = All Wheel Steering, sorry.
Gotcha. Any idea if e-diff will be included or mechanical LSD like GT4?

He said : If you want to make money on a 991 RS you better sell it very fast and not be too greedy ...... ( GT3.2 is coming )

According to Autocar the upcoming facelifted 911 GTS will be NA engine, not turbo. I would guess the next GT3 would be N/A as well.

Ok, but Porsche doesn't really have piles of engines sitting in a corner with the "just in time" production methods, right?

More in Autocar today on the 991R - interesting they say "It's expected that the 911 R will be a permanent addition to the 911 family, rather than being a limited-run special edition"

WTF? That article says that the 911R is coming March 2017, instead of 11 days from now.
They must've not realized that it's coming in 11 days and it will be model year 2017 (50th anniversary)...

You forgot about the pile of returned engines from GT3?
So how would that work if a future buyer wanted a "matching numbers" car?
2011 Range Rover Sport S/C, 2009 Porsche 911S
Those GT3s that got a replacement engine will have the record updated to reflect the new serial numbers of the new engines.
Those returned engines would have gone through a tear down and rebuild, 'remanufactured' and given fresh serial numbers, with the old numbers retired. For all intents and purposes they will be 'new' engines with new serial numbers that could be match to any new cars, say the rumoured 911R
Everything matched!
