I would have loved a Spyder but I knew well that SWMBO would have hated it, she would never understand the compromise hood, the harder sport suspension ride nor the bucket seats that are really essential in the Spyder. Hence the GTS as a compromise - but even with this car she's not keen on the standard sport seats plus (to me they are amongst the most comfortable seats I've ever had - go figure)!! she would have preferred the standard sport seats with the optional 14 way adjustments that we had in our '06 Boxster S.

Nay, I need the / your GT4 as a concept of an enemy for the track Smiley - Spyder or GT4, I think those fortunate enough to have gotten either model, currently may drive the best fun cars in the Porsche line-up (bang for the buck)...

Hey guys,

Still looking for a solution to fill up the gap in the rollbars of the spyder. There's only a central winddeflector and the original 981 deflectors porsche puts into the normal 981 rollbars do not fit the spyder's. The whole in the spyder's rollbar is smaller then the ones in the regular boxster.

Since we're fervent open air drivers (fast... ) we'dd like to find a solution. In belgium we don't have + 20degrees often. So we like to drive open from the first sunshine on... but without wind!

@ DC: it seems you need a SWMBO customized passenger seat Smiley Seriously: maybe some kind of lumbar support cushion or similar may help ? GTS with the right options for sure is quite close to the Spyder in terms of driving fun Smiley

@ beltar: I still did not find any solution for the holes in the roll hoops - maybe a scarf or some nylons from the Mrs could do the trick ? Me neither, the Gyeon treatment did a great job on our 21 years old 993, so i never doubted treating the new spyder also. Cleaning is faster and less work, the rims only need a soft cleaning spray and highpressure rinsing and done, never have to clean them with a sponge. Sill i rinse the car every week , so it never gets very dirty...

I have never liked the films either , but the ceramic will not help with stone chips. The film technology has got much better and I will start with it when my 675LT comes next month as there is a whole load of carbon on the front.

Yes, protective film and ceramic coatings serve different purposes.

In terms of looks, professionals polish out the finish before applying the coating. THAT is 90% of the reason the paint looks so good after a coating treatment. Even better than the factory (which often has sanding marks, etc.).

Does anyone know the approximate production number for Spyder?

On Rennlist , a user with nicknamed S2kTaxi is tracking all the US/CAN bound 981 Spyders and so far he has about 750 Spyders in his list (by the way he is doing an amazing job as he has the configurations of each Spyder). Haven't heard anything specific about total production numbers except a very vague indication that there will be fewer Spyders made than GT4s and 991 RS , for what is worth. What is instead sure is that production ends in April.

A small update after 2200km and finally flooring the pedal a few times...

This car is really a blast i'm totally impressed with it .... (it's my 6th p-car) , it feels even faster then the R8.

The first 4000rpm it's nice, fast...

Above 4000rpm it feels rocketting more and more, and the moment you try to drive it on B-roads in 2nd gear till the redline, it feels.... dangerously fast....

Problem is, it 's bringing that much adrenaline you get addicted to revving it to the redline, and in 2nd gear that's already loosing your licence in Belgium...so we have a problem...

The unbelievable positive site is, you get that much "drivingexperience-emotion" for that amount of money. Porsche did such a great thing building this car...

For the looks and the comfort i immediately would change it for an RC-like GTS, but considering the price this is really a bargain.

The more i drive it, the more i love it

never ever thaugt i'd say this concerning a.... boxster

No problem, since you have the second best racetrack in the world (and only 90 min from there to the best - I did both in the same day) Smiley

And not too far from Autobahn either...

Exactly right, but the Mss would be more pleased with it... :-) In the passengerseat there's not always a happy face for the moment due to the insolation of the top : wind and drivingnoise... And i can understand her ... At 140 the Bose is not heard anymore... and since she likes Celine Dijon :-(

This car is indeed rather pilot egocentric... and a real feast-beast Smiley Smiley
