If Porsche decides to put another (last) GT4 on the market, maybe even with the new exterior of the 718, many GT4 speculators will be screwed. Also, I don't remember anything about a GT4 limited production, so basically...

A bit too many ifs and maybes Smiley If Porsche then decides to put another last last GT4 on the market also the 718 GT4 speculators will be screwed... then the last last last GT4... then the last last last last... yes, we can keep on going all evening.

No matter what Porsche decides to do the current GT4 will remain the original. In a few years when downsizing, turbos, PDK and self parking are given in all Porsches, then the current GT4 will become the next most desirable GT car after the 4.0l RS. There is nothing like it. Never was, never will be. An "old school" GT3 in a modern mid-engine chassis. Let them stick the new 718 body on it, PDK, rear-wheel steering and all the other GT3 dingsbums gizmos. It will just make the current one even more special.

    Re: 718 Boxster

All the above is true. But they also made a bunch of GT4... The market to collect these is not that big. And it will always be limited by the RS 4.0 which they made a bunch too...

    Re: 718 Boxster

The GT4 is accessible to a much larger group of potential owners. Not just the rich collectors.

+1 - nothing wrong with having one - what ever has a GT badge with a number afterwards is a good buy long term - no exception

    Re: 718 Boxster

I don't understand German leases I guess. Here when you sign for the initial lease the purchase price at the end of he lease is called the residual and it is written in stone. You always have the right to pay that price and keep the car. The dealer has no choice but to sell it at that price at the end of the lease if you want it. Or you can walk away and only pay for any damage or extra miles.

additionally please realize that outlet malls may have fancy name brands but the quality of the items is much different than what you get from the real department stores. Much different in some cases. All these brands basically make two versions of each product. The expensive departments store version and the outlet store version.  It is not the same product. This is well known here in the US.

    Re: 718 Boxster

Over 80% of the merchandize sold in outlets in not old in regular stores, we talked about this before. We actually don't go to outlets anymore except for some very casual kids clothes. We noticed the clothes from the outlets simply did not last as long as the other, in the end you might not save anything.

    Re: 718 Boxster

Finally we got off-topic, I couldn't wait for it indecision

It is only partially true about the outlets . It depends the brands, the store . But I agree, all these so called deals are getting ridiculous and are mainly there to make the buyer feel he's got  a deal .......

    Re: 718 Boxster

Apart from the improvement in straight line performance they've made everything else worse. The engine's bad enough, but those horrible new dash top vents, the sport chrono which used to be beautifully integrated and has now gone back to the previous generation wart........Smiley Downside of the sport dial on the steering column is more horrible blank switch spaces on the centre console.

How could Porsche compound so many bad changes into what was a superb sports car?? Smiley

I can assure you 100% that after a possible (I'm not saying it will come) 718 (or not) GT4 with n/a engine, there won't be any n/a engine GT4 anymore. Smiley

If you say so... What happens if the "next" GT4 gets manual as well, an improved chassis, improved interior and even 20-30 horses on top? Smiley If you bought the GT4 for value, you could be disappointed. If you bought it for fun, well...you know that you aren't going to be disappointed (unless you have tons of other cars to choose from like Futch, which is a completely different story).

Lots of ifs and whens of course but the GT4 story isn't over yet... Smiley It could however end with a RS version, which would be quite interesting as well.

The merchandise we bought at outlets was basically the same quality as the "normal" products, unless advertised otherwise. True Religion seems to be the biggest rip-off, my wife loves this jeans brand because they fit her well and she has at least 30 pairs or so. Smiley Long story short: She bought a few times one jeans at a regular price and then for half or less the money the same in outlets and quality was always the same. Same experience with Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren (Polo) and Calvin Klein. No quality differences. Sorry for being off-topic.

The "worst" that could happen to the value of the current GT4 is if the next one remains unchanged but with another 20-30 horses.

Chassis improvements would probably mean rear-wheel steering, PDCC or other electronic aids which I don't think many GT4 owners are interested in. It adds weight and reduces the mechanical simplicity which is part of the car's signature.

Interior improvements does not seem much relevant for a GT car anyway. A more refined interior will just have a countereffect.

The only direction I can see the GT4 take, if there are future models coming, is the same as the GT3 took. It will get more power, PDK and electronic aids to increase performance... at the expense of more weight, less mechnical simplicity, less driver involvement and ultimately less fun.

I find it very interesting that people here start looking at the 997 RS and 987 Spyder instead of their newer counterparts. It tells a lot.

Of course, I did not get my GT4 with a speculative motive. I got it for the fun... and because it is so insane! Smiley Oh, did I mention lately that it won the EVO Car of the Year award? Smiley

    Re: 718 Boxster

The 997 GT3 is one story, the 997 GT3 RS 4.0 a completely different one (and I "get" Futch).

I would never buy a 997 GT3 or GT3 RS but the RS 4.0 is a different story. Actually, my favorite GT car would be the 991 GT3 right now, from a price/value point of view but since it seems that a 991.2 GT3 will happen, who knows?  angry

Don't know the other brands too much but for sure Ralph Lauren merchandize is not the same except for a some end of series and some seasonal items. All the Polos and chino pants are different.

Did you guys actually notice one particular option missing from the 718 configurator? Yes, I am talking about a sport exhaust system. No such thing apparently. Not a good sign.
