Car is much better looking than it's predecessor with smoother and less cluttered lines. The previous car's rear spoiler stabbing into the taillights was a styling abomination. The car is supposed to evoke past generations of Porsche mid-engine sports cars, something the 718 does and the 981.1 did not. Insofar as the engine is concerned I am not virulently opposed to a flat 4 but it needs to sound like a proper sports car, not a lawn mower.

The Porsche lettering doesn't look that bad on real photos anymore. More pictures: http://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/news/sitzprobe-porsche-718-boxster-8453334.html

At least, you won't confuse a flat-6 with a flat-4. If it's written PORSCHE in big letters at the back, you know you're looking at a 4.
To be honest, that's the first time I would be more excited to look after a second-hand porsche than a new one. And it's true for the 991 as well.
The front and the interior look already dated. Nice effort on the rear but since I dislike the integrated spoiler with the rear lights, zero improvements there... So that car is faster but is it more fun? Love my Boxster 15 years ago but I doubt I would buy one today, the Alfa 4C seems a more more interesting proposition.
the interior air vents are an utter disaster .. reminds me of some very cheap Korean car whose designer forgot about them until the last minute. original vents much better integrated.
the rear lettering is merely making it consistent with the 911 ..
I hope model designation delete is an option leaving only Porsche
rear bumper with the side reflectors are poorly integrated, especially when viewed from the side
the larger air scoops for the side vents also look tacked on, like an after thought. why can the make it one piece?

kudryavchik:Guys, I don'tunderstand your criticism. This car is much better looking than the 981.1. What is worse - air vents inside
C'mon, it's not as pretty as a 981. The front headlights and bumper look really awkward, and almost cheap. I personally like the spoiler going through the light on the 981 and it certainly doesn't look bad like this plastic 'Porsche' plinth sitting under the spoiler. I will agree with you that the vents are ugly though.
Having had a play with the German configuration, it looks like Porsche a really screwing the options prices. Like the 991.2, this is a considerably more expensive car specced correctly than the outgoing model. This to me is a hard sell with a 4 cyl engine. It'll be interesting to see where they price the Cayman when it is released, but for now, the options and price of this car make it very expensive for what it is.

It's not a radical redesign from the 981. The normal "facelift" front and rear bumper change with the front taking the usual ploy of reversing the shape of the outgoing car's front air intakes and change of rear bumper and rear lights. The side skirt section of the body has an additional recessed surface along the bottom and the door handles have been changed. When you see them side by side I doubt the changes are going to be as drastic as some think.
The biggest change at the front is the rounded leading edge of the front bumper has been replaced with a much flatter, squared of look which gives an optical 2D photo illusion of being more dramatic than it probably is in real life.
As a 981.1 Cayman 2.7 owner, I'm the only one who like the new car inside and out I guess.
I would prefer the new car in a heart beat. Actually, I tried to sell the 981 for the last couple of months, but hasn't been offered a reasonable price so it stayed.
2.7 liter engine doesn't want to go/move aka very slow under 3800 rpm where it spends most of its time.

I really like it! Looks much more modern and prefer this to the 981.1 by far.
The colors on offers is a really weak point. Porsche has to introduce more options and then I'm not looking for any loud GT-colors, more shades of grey and blue would be nice.
PSE would also probably be nice, but probably coming in a few months.
