How difficult/costly is 599 to get an early copy of in London? Can one simply go into Euro-land (ex-Germany) to get this car? I ask as 599 sounds difficult to get an early copy of in US (@$320K+ properly equipped), despite very likely steep deprec, esp if one puts 5K+ mis on car as a commuter machine before getting rid of it in 6-12 mos....

Do you mean for you? I'd think that that would be quite difficult, unless you had diplomatic status? I always wondered about that with Ferraris... I have a friend's dad who specializes in buying European exotics and selling them

Funny, I was following one of those in traffic, and it's true there are a lot of Ferrari-esque details..What really excites me about the 599 though is the technology in the car. It really does sound cutting edge SLR/Carrera GT type performance for considerably less money (still expensive I know but you only live once..)

No, not for me...I was simply curious if there's an easy possible London-EU arbitrage.....
....for ex, in the US, guys play the arb game of getting (via brokers) new F's from dealers in lovely places like OH/CO/OR, etc trucked into mkts where high concentrations of serial new F buyers tend to reside, like SF/NYC/LA..... E.g., rumor has it that perhaps 6-10 early 430s were shipped up to SF brokers by LA region F dealers, as LA seems to have a much smaller concentration of serial, new F buyers than SF.....

....life is short ....IMO, have dealer "reprioritize" your order or find a shrewd, effective broker who can source you a new 599 at reasonable premium.... BTW, have heard great things re: 599 from jaded, serial new F custs who've learned more about it....but ultimate answer is found in your own back-to-back comparo of 599 vs 997TT vs SL65 (sure, each car offers difft price point, but much overlap in buyer base and potential daily&wkend use of each of these cars) on your favorite straight-line roads and twisties....in both dry and wet conds (it does occasionally rain, even in places w/great weather like LA).....

It actually works fine for me, since I have a 430 coming later this year and I will run that until the 599. Yes, I know all about the weather in CA my friend, I lived there for many years...when it rains in LA people dont know how to drive, I saw a woman hit the edge of the road on the 134..thankfully only her pride was hurt.

Well guys, I put down my Pounds20k deposit on a 611bhp Hyundai today. While I thought about all the things discussed earlier, sourcing from Germany, waiting for first year depreciation, in the end I just thought I should do it. Dealer says 2008 latest, but he will do his best to get me one sooner, and I think he may (I'm a pretty regular customer). My F430 is due this Summer, so the timing is OK for me. I have had many Ferrari's before but never a V12, this will be my first. It is definitely a more restrained looking car but as I am now into my mid-thirties I actually like the more subtle look. The color choice is already decided - Nero as above with Tan. I wont be changing that.! Look forward to driving one hopefully late this year. One of my relatives abroad is actually getting a 599 at the end of this year to replace his 575 so I hope I will be able to post driving impressions for you guys soon. I'm excited now, the order form is in my hand!
