Whoopsy:Looks like Ferrari has a new car ready to be unveiled on Feb 15th at Lake Como.
Just got an invite to the event, only says the New Ferrari V12 GT 2+2.
Not sure if it's the next FF, as the FF is a proper 4-up, not a 2+2.
Perhaps a F12 with doggie seats?
A car or a concept? Ferrari dont usually do concepts, but odd that they keep a totally new line secret?

Whoopsy:Regardless, I declined to go.
Matter of principle. If they have the guts to tell me I am not gonna get a LaFerrari, I also have the guts to say no to them for invites. 4th no to them in a row.
I love your reaction. Any chance to ban them from your new race track
Other than that - did they show any reaction to your actions?

You got lucky with a dose of smartness to get the 918... Just get a LaF and market price and be done with it since you really want it. You asked Ferrari somewhat late in the game when the car was already trading way higher used, in this case they really pick and choose who they give one to since there is big financial gains attached to it and no more risk. They would favor people with racing ties or very large vintage collection rather than your profile. That's what I would do in Ferrari shoes. There's always a bigger fish in the pond. You can drop $2mio in new Ferrari cars, some drop $30m in a 250 GTO (just trying to be realistic, that said you deserve a Laf way more that most of us here with your involvement in car events with Porsche and you would be a great customer ambassador for any brand ).
There was one for our local market, a late allocation, they could have sold me that, but the dealer decided to partner with a speculator instead. I think someone ended up paying 5 million CAD, and that car went into a warehouse for storage. Out of sight.
They know I am not pleased and tried to entice me with those early allocations on other models and special editions. And now trips.
sfo:at least Ferrari is still attempting to schmooze you .. isn't it good to feel wanted
Porsche tried to schmooze me too...with a 918, which I cannot afford.

noone1:I don't consider trying to sell you an overpriced highly depreciating model to be schmoozing...
I guess you haven't seen 918 prices lately... In retrospect we should all have a 918 in the garage even just to sell it for profit. No regrets but I really should not have passed on it...

Did I miss something?

noone1:
Someone said Ferrari is attempting to "schmooze" whoopsy by inviting him to a new FF unveiling. More like just sell whoopsy a new FF imo...
Now I understand, sorry for the misunderstanding.
Well, the FF is not a bad car but trying to sell him another FF when Ferrari knows that he wants the LaFerrari, especially after since Whoopsy already bought a FF and a F12? I don't know, you may be right, not very appropriate and not exactly "schmoozing".
It is my understanding however that his Ferrari dealer offered him a F12 tdf and Whoopsy declined.

Alright - who else is the sales guy going to call? He has lots of time on his hands and only so many customers. He can't help it that the LF was not on the table. He still needs to sell cars to those who did not get an LF.
The whole point of the LF and being exclusive is that there will be very good customers and other wealthy people who simply can not have one. They beg to be sold like marketing tools and favors. The more important the person who can't get one the more the publicity generates the desired effect. Having the balls to try to sell an FF to someone who can't ever get the LF is part of the whole effect.
Expecting them to shy away from Whoopsy missed the point entirely. If anything Whoopsy should be proud of their effort and play the game - eat their free food. Take home cars for the weekend and return them dirty. Most of all - drive the 918 to the F dealer each and every time.
