    LOL Smiley

Heat soak...nothing new to my GT500. This is why I had a larger (double capacity with two large ventilators) heat exchanger installed in my (not so weak Smiley) car. I have a switch and in summer, when it gets too hot, I switch the ventilators on...the car has basically the same performance at 35°C as when it is 20°C outside. Smiley Highly frustrated a friend in his Ferrari 458 during an Autobahn run while outside temperatures were around 35-38°C. Smiley

Cheating switch...good one.Smiley Many GT500 owners don't realize how much the heat soak affects them. Power goes down by up to 80(!) hp at around 35°C according to my tech guy (he is the GT500 specialist in Germany). Also, many GT500 were bought by German customers without the track package (see photo) and you can see by the parts involved how bad the car must be without it on the Autobahn. Even with this track package, my oil temperature goes up right into the yellow indicator on my oil temp gauge at around 35-40°C outside temperature, close to the red one. Without the additional oil cooler from the track package, the oil temperature would be too high and the same goes for the rear axle cooler and gearbox cooler. Many German GT500 buyers don't have a clue about this and basically ruin their cars in summer time. Smiley

The new Carrera is a...Carrera. Yes, it is turbo charged and Porsche may have given it the illusion of a "small" 911 Turbo, a little brother but it is still, viewed historically, a Carrera and has not much to do with the 911 Turbo ancestors. The sound is also different (better) and of course the 911 Turbo/Turbo S is substantially more expensive.

So, new 911 Turbo or NSX? Assuming you don't need backseats for your 12 children, of course.

991.2 Turbo. For various reasons. It will even offer a lot more "feel" then new NSX.

Do not forget that 991.2 Turbo is in straight line as fast as 991.1 Turbo S and faster on the track. Usable for daily/all year driver, realtively socially acceptable, a wise person choice in my opinion.

Re: OFFICIAL: new 991.2 Turbo and Turbo S

Took them a while (decades) to add a front axle lifting system on the turbo and the rest of the 911 lineup angry

CGT needs it soooo badly, another reason why I'll never get one heart

I agree. Smiley The 991.2 Turbo S got even better but I just wish that would take care of that crappy sound. With the sound of the new facelifted 991.2 Carrera S with sport exhaust, I would have never ever given away my Turbo S. What a shame. Smiley

Well, you can't say the Turbo spoiler does not have a long history.... but the split rear intakes remind me of this - is that intended??

We are on the same page here. WTF do they do?

For me the classic Porsche element is the drop side design. Any form of a spoiler just harms the look. This one is by far the ugliest Turbo spoiler they ever had.

Re: OFFICIAL: new 991.2 Turbo and Turbo S

I agree. I see no point to having a spoiler. Find some other way to improve stability that an ugly spoiler like that.

Re: OFFICIAL: new 991.2 Turbo and Turbo S

Maybe we can start a Turbo R rumour: it uses recycled Mezger engines and has no spoiler..... blush

there are soo much going on with the Turbo rear....  looks too complicated for my taste...  they should do something about the wing at least....

Re: OFFICIAL: new 991.2 Turbo and Turbo S

The Turbo spoiler is iconic. I, for one, think it suits the car just fine (and I'm not a fan of wings on cars).

And actually "Porsche design" was always "reduced, lean and clean" - that's why we probably see a problem in it.

Re: OFFICIAL: new 991.2 Turbo and Turbo S

I never liked the design of the Turbos, especially the back half of the car.
993,996,997,991 Turbo I would always prefered the normal Carrera design.
    Simply too much.

I don't know why but the GT3s since the 996.2 GT3 I love. But the 997 GT3 RS and 991 GT3 starts to become also a little bit too "much".

But it is also releasing some outstanding drivers cars in the form of GT4, GT3, and GT3 RS whilst mainly producing mainly SUVs - something for everyone.

I meant to say, the base Carrera + S  and the 911 Turbo. The most hated part about the turbo as usual is the rear spoiler Smiley

Hated by who? Few members of this forum...Then there are the people who actually buy these cars and love the fat rear of their turbo with it's spoiler. I personally wouldn't care for a 911 unless it is Turbo or a GT3/2 with a rear spoiler.

Only rear wing I like is the one on 993 Turbo. Still, I find the 993 4S, one of the most beautifull Porsche ever designed.

The rear wing on Turbo, GT2 and GT3 models to my eyes looks almost pathetic. I know they have a propose but Lambo and Ferrari can have lots of down force without the need of those rear wings. The GT3 RS without the rear wing looks so much better, the new 911 R will be one of the most sportive and beautiful 911 ever because it has the large body without the pimp rear wing.

Friend of mine bought a 930 Targa with turbo body (rare car) and he took out the huge rear wing, the car looked SO, SO much better and wide without the rear wing. The wing went for the wall on his garage, garage looked beautiful with the rear wing on the wall, that´s the right place for it to be SmileySmiley.

    Here´s the beauty
