Too soon for wing delete. 911Rs still being delivered. Likely a mid-cycle option?

Not likely. If the wing delete option isn't offered from the start, it won't happen I'm afraid.

It seems that Porsche marketing didn't want to "dilute" the GT3 brand by offering a wing delete option. This is just a rumor though.

A wing delete and even adding backseats would certainly improve GT3 sales substantially. The question is: Does Porsche really want that? According to my info, they make more money off the GTS for example.

A lot of people want the GT3 experience but want the understated stealth look of a wingless body, also the 991R aura also made that look more popular, a wingless GT3.2 with even a manual option woukd be a way to get close to a 991R... unfortunately I can already people putting the 991R stripes on wingless GT3s to make look alikes...

Actually, people who think that Porsche shouldn't make a wingless GT3 should ask themselves why Porsche built the...911 R.  Smiley Smiley Porsche could have sold tons of 911 R if this car wasn't limited.

What is it with some people and their wing fixation? Smiley Over the past years, whenever I was in the US, I saw tons of Panamera and 911 with the wing raised at low speeds, even when parked. Now I started to notice this "phenomenon" in Germany as well, which is weird. Does a wing make the car look faster or sportier? I don't get it.

    Re: 991.2 GT3 Thread Closed

Wings are a pain in the ass. My 997 Turbo wing is failing after ten years. Too complex and expensive to repair. I bought the electric actuators online yesterday. Like all my repairs I am always looking for a better than stock replacement of the failed part. Seriously considered a ducktail.

    Re: 991.2 GT3 Thread Closed

I never thought the wing of the GT3 would be a problem until I owned one.  I became very self conscious in town and parked on the street because it really seems out of place and has more in common w/ the winged Civics and their cherry bomb mufflers.  I also agree about deploying the spoiler all the time, it looks silly. I would have gone for an R (w/ PDK) had it been available.

A peer reviewed study in a prominent medical journal found that the number of hair follicles that appear on the upper back increases exponentially w/ the weight and number of gold chains around the neck.  The hair follicles migrate from the scalp to the upper back in response to the total carat weight of the gold.

    Re: 991.2 GT3 Thread Closed

The wing deferentiates the car from the run of the mill 911. I was often asked whether my GT3 was the racing version of the 911. My answer was yes. It is why the R has stripes. To distinguish it from other 911's. I will certain have a wing on mine.

You can barely find someone (talking normal people here, not car people)  in Germany who could tell the difference between the various 911 models. Only exception is maybe the 911 Turbo and the curren GT3 RS because of the side inlets. Only thing I know is that Porsche cars with huge wings often get a bad feedback here, especially from women. Smiley Not that I would really care.
