Even if the GT3 and the GT3RS have the same "HP", if the RS has the ram air duct, it will have something extra on the top end, the wider track will gives it better cornering speed, the PDK will also gain something on a track also, which means it will still be faster, track lap time wise.

Nick, I can't believe they wouldn't differentiate the RS from the GT3 with at least 25 more hp. The price difference is considerable (30%). Just adding bells and whistle to the RS to justify the cost would not persuade to pick the RS over the GT3.

The RS in the 996 and 997.1 had no power advantage and the 997.2 had only 15hp more...
In general, the advantages are all to make them work better on the track. Aside from a financial perspective, I think you'd be better off with the non-RS since you don't track (and most of the track enhancements compromise road manners and even straight-line speed. The GT3 will again be faster than the RS on the autobahn).

Bluelines is much younger as he still manages to drive manual, whey bellow 50 . He even get excited by the noise , he can still hear

I am still able to drive without an automatic gearbox and only steering with the front wheels.

I have no doubt that the side intakes of the RS are more effective than the dual ram-air intakes on the rear decklid of the new GT3. But any extra power from this is more than offset by the aero drag of the wide body, bigger wing and wider wheels/tires as far as Vmax is concerned.

You will get there, one day, one day ...... and you'll even need the bigger wing to be able to stay on track, but mostly to to be able to find your car in the car park .

I think they will definitely do a 718 GT4, but no idea about the motor. They chose the name 718 to leverage the goodwill of one of their best 4-cyl cars, so would be weird to dilute the marketing power with a 6-cyl...

A GT4 with a 4-cylinder turbo does not feel very attractive to be direct.

I think that's a given. If they make a 4-cyl GT car, it will definitely be fast. That's the best way to convert the Flat-6 faithful. They'd probably add PDK to juice the numbers further too. Neither is particularly enticing to me...

For a faster car there is a already the GT3 and the RS.
The attraction of the GT4 is that it is simple and "retro". A modern take on track cars 15-20 years ago. If Porsche adds a 4-cylinder turbo, PDK, RWS, etc. then it is no longer simple and "retro". Yes, it will be faster, but on the expense of driving aids and weight.

Yeah, all the old farts like myself keep thinking about a 968 CS, where you even had to draw a cable to open the rear trunk. My concern is at the moment more financially driven - 10 years ago it was much easier to reasonably budget a GT3, today I am sometimes getting dizzy looking at the purchase prices quoted alone for these models.

The 968 CS is a lovely car! Unfortunately the prices have skyrocketed the last 2-3 years.

Another possibility: Porsche did make a 718 W-RS with a flat-8 engine which ended 8th at Le Mans in 1963. Porsche marketing might leverage on this for the next 718 GT4 (unless the GT4 moniker will stand for the number of cylinders ).
