Similarity to the GTA-study is close:

I'm a fan.  The original Veyron seemed like an engineering milestone not seen since the McLaren F1, but in recent times it's been eclipsed a bit by the last round of hypercars.  Hopefully this one will win back a position at the top at in terms of desirability, at least by way of luxury, engineering excellence, and straight-line performance / top speed.

I certainly see some Aventador styling cues in those mule pics. Smiley

    Re: Bugatti Chiron

it's gonna look a lot like the GTA concept it appears. Why not, it won't be much of a looker anyways like the Veyron.

Perhaps over styled, but surely a statement of automotive audacity and unbounded creativity.  And to the prospective owners, a minor and mostly likely profitable investment.  Always a market for extreme exclusivity.

A good friend, and a man wealthy from intelligent investing, is one of these depositors. His attitude, and probably a good one, is that he cannot lose.  Lots of wealthy folks out there.  if you are worth hundreds of millions, investing two million is almost inconsequential.  Looked at in another way, these folks make automotive art possible….

The funny thing is, for me the Veyron has always been a tour de force in terms of engineering. I have never seen it as something beautiful. Bold for sure, beautiful not so much...

From what I could gather so far, the successor is far more than just an engineering milestone. From a design perspective, it will be much more sophisticated.

    Re: Bugatti Chiron

I never looked at the Veyron as some sort of beauty. I always saw the monster horse power, excessive Vmax and straight line performance.

The Veyron is an amazing Autobahn car but sucks big time on very curvy country roads.

Here is a photo from a drive with my son and some friends...

    Re: Bugatti Chiron

I had the pleasure once to drive the Veyron for a quick tour. It was impressive, but the car is way to fast. You never really can full throttle. The sound didn't do it for me neither. It sounds amazing when full throttle, other than that it just mumbles. So what is all the fun when you "normally" never can accelerate, never hear the beast? Also - the interior nor the exterior are looking any kind of stunning. All the hype about that car is just the insane performance. For that money I would new much more attractive cars to buy.

    Re: Bugatti Chiron

Owning a Veyron sends a message, driving one is more of a statement. I like the Veyron but it would never be the only car in my stable (if I could afford a Veyron ).

I think it's more like a sledgehammer approach, brunt force if one may.

And then you watch a top fuel dragster rip through the quarter mile in less than four seconds and the car seems slow and expensive.

    Re: Bugatti Chiron

The Veyron is borderline vulgar, the Chiron is totally vulgar. I guess if one is really bored, craves attention and has money to burn that it makes.sense, but it's still outhouse ugly.

Yes, I am pretty sure that Veyron owners are interested in dragsters. Smiley

Like I said before, owning a Bugatti and driving it is some sort of statement. The guy who owns the Veyron in the photo I posted is a billionaire and a very very nice person. Nothing vulgar about him or his appearance, he just loves cars. Actually, he was driving the S63 AMG in the back (photo) most of the time. I do not consider the Veyron to be vulgar, it is more of a statement of wealth and power. I think you are reading way too much into (expensive) cars.

    Re: Bugatti Chiron

It's a technical Statement - also the new Chiron - as they are developed & build with the same standarts VW has in Terms of reliability etc. which cannot be said to all those cars having 1200 or so HP needing some sort of a rebuild every couple of thousand km's. The 911 Turbo S Launch control Video doing this 50 times in a row Showcases this principle vs many many other manufactures claiming Veyron beating numbers. For me it's a Milestone achievement what is technically possible - at that time - and the new one will mostsurely do the exact same. Hugely desirable for those who can afford it !

To be honest, I never cared about the Bugatti tech too much (maybe because I really cannot afford one) but if I had the money, a Bugatti would certainly be in my stable, no doubt about it. Smiley The Veyron has something feral about it, the Chiron is certainly even more that way.

The chiron will be a lot more sexy, sort of absolute milestone in automotive industry.

No need to afford it to be excited by its impressive numbers.

And it's a french car! indecision

French built, German engineered. Smiley It took 30(!) engineers to develop the gearbox of the Veyron only and over five years for Michelin to actually develop a tire for the car.

Btw: Bugatti started production in 1909 in Molsheim, a German city. After WW I, Molsheim became a French city. So Bugatti has been actually founded in Germany, by Italian Ettore Bugatti.

Actually, VW could have given away the Veyron for free because each car made a loss of 4.7 Mio EUR anyway. Smiley

    Just some fun facts... Smiley

Historically your statement is true but it's a very sensitive subject..

Do you know the famous french song during ww1?

Inspired by what? A dolphin on wheels?  Never knew that bugatti likes sea world so much. That one is really hideous.

    Re: Bugatti Chiron

Never owned or driven one, and probably never will, but I've always thought it was kind of ugly. It's way smaller in real life than it seems, but still not a great looking car. I would never spend $1-2M on one. Many better and cooler options in that price range.

How do you know, have you seen the car?

Regarding nationality, let´s say the car is assembled in France. Smiley

    Re: Bugatti Chiron

I like it. At least it is original, not like every 911 that looks the same and that people order in white silver or black, the most boring colors.

Actually, in real life, the Bugatti Veyron looks much better than in photos. It may not be the fastest in twists and turns but it is a lot of fun straight line, especially on the Autobahn. A monster, especially over 250 kph.
