Forgot to mention one aspect. Market timing. You could have the right idea but at the wrong time and being stopped before you are correct... If someone tries to ply the market for 20% or less, you are at the mercy of a bad market timing. If you are looking to double your money over the next 10 years, current price doesn't really matter.

Don't tell me about bad timing. Remember that Apple stock sticking to those 70/75 USD for almost a year? I almost thought I'm wrong. Afterwards, I made a 102%(!) gain before I sold and bought (a small portion) back again at around 112 USD.
I have three regrets, well actually four (I bought BAC at 4(!) USD and sold way too early): TSLA, BIDU and CSUN. I should have waited...the possible gains were astronomic high. Now I would be too scared... (with the exception of BAC).
