JimFlat6:Not trivializing at all. If that judge wants to use his discretionary sentencing power to emulate courts in Germany s darkest past it should not go unnoticed.
C'mon, I am upset as well but not that upset to confuse a biased judge with envy issues and a judge during the Third Reich. Nobody died here, nobody was sentenced to go to a concentration camp.

Obviously. But maybe it's time for a second look at the discretionary sentencing power of the German judiciary. And sorry to say but it was never really denazified after the war, maybe they have too much power, not calling that judge a Nazi, but too much power is too much power.

Judges in every single country have probably more power than they should. Maybe this is why good judges are rare.
They have a tough job but nobody forced them into it, this is why I have no mercy with them. Also, they make good money.

German judges are appointed for life. They do have a adversarial role rather than that of a referee, so they have more invested in any case and probably more power. When this sentence is reviewed it could stick or get changed. The fine is dramatically high so who knows. Nothing is perfect in legal systems nywhere, but this fine seems to have unusual motivations. Fwiw, a US traffic court your dealing likely with a elected judge, you can still get hosed but judges cannot demand outrageous fines..

You are trivializing it when you equate it with something that's absolutely nothing in comparison. It's utterly offensive when you do so. My wife and brother-in-law lost numerous family members in the Holocaust, and, when you trivialize it with these meaningless comparisons, it trivializes their deaths, and their lives, as well as the lives and deaths of 11 million other people who suffered and died as a result of Nazi genocide.
Think about that number Jim, about the incalculable human suffering that represents, about the senseless murder of 11 million people, about the suffering of survivors, about families who lost loved ones and their grief, and tell me if you really think these things are in any way equivalent.
Progressivism, fascism of the left really, is destroying the modern world. The extreme left never really lost; they entrenched themselves in schools and brainwashed generations. The world will dearly pay for this nonsense.
As Thatcher said - socialism is fine until the rich run out of money. And these days that will be very soon.

The statistical numbers suggest otherwise but if you are referring to the wealthier middle class and not the super rich, I agree.

jesse:Entertaining thread. Some of you should visit a psychotherapist.
German and US mentality couldn't be more different. This doesn't mean that one needs a psychotherapist and the other doesn't or vice versa. This has to do with life, mentality, media brainwashing, education and local politics. Nothing a psychotherapist would really want to be bothered with.
