    "I Have Done It!".

    991 GT3 pick up in October 2014.

No, sorry...no information. Actually, I can only talk about the German market but apparently, other markets got some additional allocations too, at least in Europe.

However, the additional allocations are here but it depends on dealers and how many "other" Porsche "certain" models they have ordered from Porsche. Also, people kind of getting cars "assigned" to, as far as I heard, dealers propose names of customers and Porsche checks if they get a car or not, also based on dealer recommendations. This seems to be an entire process I do not really fully understand

correct. but my dealer claims that 70% of the impact on choosing the clients for the new allocations came from PAG, only 30% from the dealers (like down-ranking known flippers). also my dealer claims that these are not additional allocations, they were contained in the original planning of about 2000. RC, can you confirm this?

btw, anyone has an opinion on my combo color white, CCBs + full leather/alcantara in lava? or better should i go for yellow stitching to match the calipers?

    cheers peter

Tough one...  Don't forget that your six point harnesses will be in red, not orange.

This is probably a very personal thing, the stitching. I don't like yellow, but I'd love to have orange in my white RS but I did silver because of the color clash red vs orange.  But... it is a personal thing. I have read seatbelts and a red door handle and a red fire extinguisher to go with my red calipers. A lot of red I guess Smiley

Here's a lava with Club Sport red for reference:

I'm afraid I cannot confirm this but I also cannot deny this. I rely on information I get from our sources and sometimes this information is plain and without any proof or "background". I just heard back in early summer that if I were interested in a GT3 RS, I should put myself on the dealer list because additional allocations will be available in autumn. Smiley

White is a very nice choice. I played around with configurations myself when I wanted to order one Smiley but lava orange does neither fit the red calipers nor the yellow PCCB calipers. So I actually wanted to order a white one with the boring GT-silver stitching because I had to act fast (wanted to get the car within a very short period of time) but if you have the time to wait and yellow stitching is an option, get the yellow stitching. Smiley Keep the roll cage (if you order one) in white though, it looks weird in yellow on a white car. I would also get black (satin) painted rims with the PCCB, the black bi-xenons (or black LEDs but the bi-xenons look better in my opinion, especially on a white car) but of course this is a matter of taste and personal preference.

@pmarkow: If you go with yellow stitching you might want yellow seat belts as well. If you want yellow door handle straps then you might be able to order those as spare parts to the GT4. (If PAG refuses giving you yellow straps as an option)

The watch on the dash board completes the look of the interior. Without it, the interior looks very pedestrian especially in $200,000 car. You might want to reconsider.

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

The decal is nice but I think it is a bit too big... (see photo). Also, the decal distracts the eye a little bit from the design elements of the GT3 RS, like the air vents (front and side).

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

Don't think the sport chrono clock is necessary to complete the interior at all.  In fact, as a mechanical watch lover, the fact that it sweeps like a Quartz isn't a positive.  Plus it doesn't do anything.  I find it funny that people pay what Porsche is asking for it.  On the 911 it sits on top of the dash like a wart.  At least in the Cayman it's integrated into the dash in place of the somewhat ugly emergency flasher button.

Just my differing perspective. There is no right or wrong answer.

    Peter,

Think about it twice since 99% of all 991 GT3 RS are build with Sport Chrono option. It will be also better from resale perspective point of view.

I agree. Most people using the GT3 RS for the track will find the Sport Chrono option useful. This is not the same Sport Chrono offered for the Carrera models but even there, Sport Chrono is a must (for a different reason though, engine/gearbox/throttle adaptation, etc.).

How is Sport Chrono useful?  (Just curious, no ironi)

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

I was wondering the same:  The lap-timing functionality is pretty rudimentary, and anyone with even a passing interest in telemetry would prefer the Precision Track App.  Those who are serious about it use aftermarket setups anyway.

I was talking about the usual owners who may not even drive this car on the track. Sport Chrono certainly won't hurt resale and the additional cost is ridiculous low.

My dealer wasn't able to sell my 997 GTS Cab for a year  because it had no navigation module but the seat shells. He had to retrofit the module and normal seats to be able to sell it, crazy. The guy who bought it uses the car only on weekends but he insisted to have the navigation module.

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

Sport Chrono on an RS in the UK is £1085. For that, you get the clock and Precision Track App.

    What a rip off.

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

Guys I was at the dealer the other day in Beirut and they were selling a 991 GT3 preowned with very low mileage, the sticking point of the sale was that the car didn't have the sport chrono option.....  I've had my car for a year now and have used that function exactly 0 times.  It might be useless as an option buy it definately affects resale, think of it as resale insurance hahah

That is less than 0.8% of the car's new price. Won't hurt anyone who can afford the car. This option I would not try to "save" money on.

Also, I think it is more than Sport Chrono and the App. The car also gets a WiFi network and a additional PCM functionality.

In the end no more rip off than other options. For example, painted nipples. 5g of paint. Kg price like diamonds Smiley

Sure, some options are deal-breakers - like Nav & seats, but I wouldn't put SC into that category.  I didn't realise the Precision Track App & SC were part of the same option though - it was all bundled in Switzerland so I didn't actually even have the choice.
