Most of the reviews of the RS3 are not that glowing, with frequent mention that it's not so fun to drive. I would guess that the Ford RS will be far more fun...

I considered the RS3 and even took the trouble to test drive one. It sounds sensational just like all the 5 cyl Audis of past and present, however a couple of things really trouble me with this car. First the price. Over here, with a couple of options, it is 25% more than a A45 which has those options as standard. Part of the issue is Audi dealer's reluctance to discount this car whereas I can get a good deal on the updated 2016 A45. Secondly, the throttle and gear change is very much tuned towards "economy" in normal mode. Way too soft for a car like this. Of course you can always set it up to your liking and you just have to hit a button before you drive off, but it really annoys me. In any case, I have not entirely counted out this car as a future daily driver.

Such a great car. Such great value. Have friends with many exotics in their grarage in the UK just recieve theirs and they cant help rave about how much fun this car is and how quick.
I just ordered on of these. September build, Novemeber delivery MY2016 in Nitrous with buckets. I have the Mountune Phase 1 kit on order and the dealer will fit this and the warranty will be valid. It will give it 380bhp and over 500nm torque so puts it well ahead of cars like M2 and probably more in the realms of M3/4 at places like the Ring. On road tyres in factory trim....
Very much looking forward to this cars arrival, which feels a bit off given it will be by far the least expensive car we own!

I almost got one...today. Went to a Ford dealer this morning because I needed to ask something and saw a blue Ford Focus RS there. The car had a very nice lease offer on the window and I almost went for it...almost. Car was already sold, next delivery...this autumn...maybe. 
Went out sad but in retrospect, it didn't make any sense for me to get this car. It just reminded me so much of my former Lancia HF Integrale days... 
Also, wasn't a fan of the four doors...probably wouldn't have taken it anyway but the temptation was big (car looked amazing, nice racing shells with blue lining, black rims with blue painted calipers, etc.).

If you needed a practical car, you would probably go with a SUV. 
Kids, wife with shoe addiction...no way around a SUV. 
The most practical car is actually my Mini JCW right now: I use it as a daily driver, I can do some shopping with it, it is pretty fast if I want to (did 260 kph on the speedo last Wednesday on our way to Munich), it is rocksolid under most road and weather conditions, it doesn't eat much fuel (10 l/100km on the Autobahn full throttle, 9 l on average city and under 7 l if I use the "green" mode), kids feel comfortable in the back (even for longer drives), so...quite OK for the size and what it costs. The emotional part is almost zero for me though but I am spoiled.

noone1:Volvo makes some really nice designs lately as far as normal cars go and that Focus seems pretty slick if you're in the market for such a car. It's not like I'd choose it over an exotic, but it's still pretty cool.
