This looks light years better than the Nissan Murano Crosscabriolet that was offered for several years in the States. I'm not sure that Nissan foisted this monstrosity on the RoW, but it is finally dead. The RR Evoque Convertible is well balanced, and while not the type of vehicle I would purchase, I still find it rather handsome.

Yes - but the main purpose for these cars has long since shifted to : elevated driving position/ brand/ look at me I've got an "X", as opposed to off road ability /practicality. The target market will love it.

I would love to see a real, big SUV with this concept. A Range Rover Sport would be a lot of fun as convertible. I love the look of the Evoque but it drives horrendous. It misses a nice 6 Cylinder which you not only feel but also hear. It also misses that air ride, which makes a luxury car difference. Pity... really cool car.

How many people do you know actually use an SUV as it was intended?
Me. A SUV is not an off-roader. A SUV is supposed to carry a family with luggage in a comfortable way and offer some minor off-road and especially deep snow/bad weather (heavy rain) capabilities. Nothing more, nothing less. I do not see much luggage room in that Evoque Convertible.
When a tornado(!) hit my house, there was a lot of water and debris from the storm around my neighborhood and without my Cayenne GTS, I wouldn't have been able to reach my house. Most neighbors left their cars down the hill in the city center because they couldn't get through (or better said: over) the debris. I raised my chassis (air suspension) and it got me through safely. This is the purpose of a SUV.
