bobr:The engine has been running in the IMSA United Sports Car Series for the past two years, so they should have some good performance data to build on.
I think Rossi was referring to the fact that the turbo V6 is somewhat uninspiring for a supercar, irrespective of how it actually goes. I guess the collectors who will get this Ford won't care that much....

Exactly. V6-turbo just doesn't do it for in such a car. Turbo-six is nice for a 911, but not for a car like this. Remember the fabulous Jaguar XJ220? Looks to die for and originally planned with a mighty V12, which was finally replaced by a boring V6-turbo. Though based on a racing engine this engine broke the neck of the whole XJ220 project and the Jag could never hold a candle to cars like a F40. I have a strong suspicion that it will the same in case of the new Ford GT.
We're at the point where you can be the fastest or just sound like you're the fastest.
The secret of life is to admire without desiring.
Saw the car yesterday at the Dubai Autoshow and I must say that overall it is VERY nice, but it will take me some time to get used to the rear end. First the upper part of the overhang seems very long and the aero stuff they have made over the engine cover just seems very busy. The car at the show was metallic red, not a color I would consider if I was a potential buyer.

Couldn't say it better.

noone1:Ford has enough history and collectors/fan base that the engine type is pretty irrelevant. Jag may have bombed with a 6, but there are only going to be 750 Ford GTs and there are probably thousands upon thousands of diehard Ford fans who'd love it no matter what.
We might as well get used to smaller, turbo-charged engines as that's just the way the industry is going.
