Re: 2015 Mexican F1 Grand Prix

What you have misunderstood is that you think Mercedes has to run both cars on the same strategy. They don't necessarily have to. Each driver is a 'separate' entity within the team and they can pick choose differently, didn't happened all the time but the option is there. Not unheard of for 2 very capable drivers within a team to run separate strategies. Witness Senna/Prost Hamilton/Alonso etc before.

Initially both drivers were to run a 1 stop race. But Rosberg needed an extra stop for tires for whatever reasons, but that also happened to dropped him to behind Hamilton. Hamilton was trying to stick to the initial Plan A.

If Mercedes was actually trying to treat both drivers equally, then they wouldn't need to MAKE Hamilton stop a second time, as his tires were in good shape as he was saying on the radio. Hamilton felt like his tires were good enough to finish the race. That fact doesn't stand well with Rosberg camp.

So it turned out they needed to handicap Hamilton by making him stop an extra time just so he stays behind Rosberg.

Hamilton wasn't the fastest in Mexico, he knows his best chance to win is to nurse the tires and finish the race doing only 1 stop. He may or may not succeed in the end but it's a chance he is willing to take. But if he DID win that way, Rosberg is going to blow up big time because of his performance in Mexico,

The condition of Hamilton's prime tires were never released to the public, why? They were in good shape to finish the race. IF that knowledge is public then Mercedes will have a major PR disaster about fairness, cause they did in fact handicapped Hamilton to ensure Rosberg takes the win. It will also tainted Rosberg's victory, which he deserved to win as he was the fastest. it would have been a crushing blow to Rosberg's ego had Hamilton won that way. Can you imagine the fallout? What we saw at COTA in the drivers lounge from Rosberg  is nothing compared to what will happen in Mexico.

In any case, Mercedes has kind of turned into McLaren during the Hamilton/Alonso era, where Alonso(Rosberg) whines and needed the team's help in order to beat Hamilton. Alonso at least got a couple Championships to back his case, Rosberg doesn't. It will get even harder down the road, as Hamilton is now a 3 times world champion and earned the rights to the throne.

David Coulthard said it best, Rosberg needed to move to get away from Hamilton, he has become the de facto 'support driver' in Mercedes. Too bad there isn't another competitive seat open for him and Rosberg is stuck in Mercedes now.

Re: 2015 Mexican F1 Grand Prix

Did you just miss the part that Hamilton's tires were in worse shape than Rosberg's? Did you miss the part that they already disadvantaged Rosberg vs Hamilton (if they leave Hamilton out) Did you miss the part that the tires likely seemed fine at the moment because the track was rapidly improving, and Hamilton was clueless about the condition of his tires? Did you miss the part that Hamilton is clueless about tire strategy, generally? (Monaco, do I need t say more?) Did you miss the part that the team, not one side of the garage or the other, made the decision to bring them in, because the team, wanted a 1-2 finish, not a 1-DNF?

This whole, "Mercedes favored Rosberg" conspiracy theory only makes even a semblance of sense if you ignore all the facts -- actually, pretend that reality is 180° opposite of what it was -- like Hamilton has done. And, the only whining diva here, as usual, is Hamilton, who, just as he always does, when he's clueless or screw up himself, blames everyone around him. Hamilton is the one who needs to man up and start acting like a champion, not a schoolgirl.

Hmm, you hates Hamilton, you can't stand the guy, we got it. Did you not read every other link that was posted in this thread outside of your own?

James Allen is the one that speculate Hamilton had worse tire wear, but Hamilton himself didn't say so when talked about it, in fact he seems to sway the other way on the planetf1 article. Or the BBC David Coulthard article, that's already multiple sources. Not one single writer. Anyway he was also only stating the soft one has worse wear, he has no idea about the wear on the primes after they were taken off.

Perez finished the race on his prime driving longer than anyone else, and he had it worse as he had to drive hard and dice with several other drivers for positions.

Re: 2015 Mexican F1 Grand Prix

James Allen didn't speculate about that. The rest of them are speculating and engaging in the same sort of illogical, self-contradictory reasoning process you are.

Re: 2015 Mexican F1 Grand Prix

Ham is saying that he is winning in a better way than schumacher .

I just hope that vettel will have a decent car next year so he can fight with hamilton. I love to se a pilot o

always fighting and be angry when not winning, he just think he is the best of all times now. Put another in his mate car, then he will laugh less. Think of a verstappen crazy boy with that fast car, for sure he will not let ham pass al the time as rosberg did without fighting.

    @xander71

Maybe MV is in the same league as NR (and as Mark Webber was) but I hardly he can be fast all the time as LH, Ayrton, MS, SV and FA are/ were?!

For sure he's young and showed already lot of good pace and action on track but the difference between "good to great" (see Jim Collins) is always harder to achieve,,,smiley

Let's wait for the next years to come but honestly quiet a lot of times his team mate CS wasn't behind him as predicted at the start of the season

Re: 2015 Mexican F1 Grand Prix

Verstappen made some small mistakes in the beginning of the season. But can you blame a (then)17 year old in his first season? But check out the last 4-5 races his learning curve is very very steep. Also look at his point total versus his team mate (who is a very talented rider as well). Will he be a next AS or MS, don't know, too early to tell. For sure his on the right track.
