    New Viper ACR probably just crushed every car, 918/P1/LF included most likely...

    Here are all the tracks they've set records at. It bested the 918 by more than 1s and 2s at Laguna Seca and Willow Springs, respectively.

    Comparing a street legal  918 to what basically is a race car (Viper ACR) makes a lot of sense, indeed. A German DTM Audi or Mercedes sedan could probably outrun a 918 in Willow Springs but I still wouldn't be impressed. Apples and oranges, the old story...

    Viper ACR is street-legal.  The one that is track-only has an "X" in the name, ACR-X (as well as GTS-R and GT3-R).

    Yeah but it's street legal in the same way a Radical is street legal.

    Radicals are not US Street-legal (just in England and some other places with loose rules).  ACR is legal just about everywhere, afaik.

    EDIT:  I spoke too soon.  While Radicals were never US Street-legal before, their recent model is:

    Before you get excited about the Viper, drive one. Awful car to use for anything but the track.

    Not considering one - just impressed what it can do for the money (but not my money) Smiley

    I'd probably consider that Radical first (but too expensive)

    Viper ACR is just the GT3 RS version of the Viper. Totally street legal.

    The Viper  ACR would never be street legal in Europe, let alone Germany.

    This debate reminds me of a story I heard firsthand years ago at Road Atlanta.  

    There was a track day event for members of media and several of the featured cars were Vipers and 996 Turbos.  Almost everyone wanted a ride in the Viper, at the hands of the professional drivers, at the event.  However, while most exited the Vipers excitedly, those that rode in the Porsches were feeling a bit underwhelmed.  But there's much more to the story.  The Vipers suffered a series of mechanical maladies throughout the day and even the chassis on all the cars twisted from the torque of the engine so the doors became impossible to close, thus ending the Vipers' stint on the track.   The Porsches never missed a beat and carried the passengers around track in air-conditioned comfort and higher speeds around the track.
