Kobalt:
I have put Xpel all over the car. I hate getting paint chips and I know I will get them because I will track a lot.
I also chosen white because it is easy to repaint - so why bother with protection film at all?
It is for piece of mind you could say.
The irony of the film is that if you have a small dent on the front bumper for instance then the film might be more expensive to replace then repainting the bumper.
Exactly as I felt. Aster film on my cars for 15 years I decided not to bother with the 991 GT3 two years ago when I picked it up. Glad I didnt bother. Th film on the rear guards from the factory went yellow within 3 months of new and the after market quality film I replaced that with ais also already looking slightly off colour. The stone chips I have picked up in 14,000km and 12 track days dont show much at all because under the white paint is a white primer coat. Im very happy with how it looks after all that time and use.
You will find the titanium panted front mesh chips after each track day bit its easy to touch up. The wheels gets chipped very easily indeed on the track or on back roads with loose stone.
"Tyre marble marks" rub off the painted steel surfaces very easily indeed compared to the clear film surfaces (as I found with my 993 RS spec after a big track day).
Last car I got covered in film someone backed into the bumper the say after before and I paid for film+paint and it cost twoce as much.
All of thats every RS Ive seen delivered in New Zealand has been covered in film by the first owner. None of them are track junkies and I guess it will be a collectors car to fast to be seriously used so the film is to protect an investment. God I had that whole thought tho. Hats off to Kobolt, TrakCar (Peter) and others on here like Gnil, Whoopsey etc who actually intend to use the car for its intended purpose. Its really getting rather silly these days isnt it!
