So when it will come out it will have the 991.1 style lights&bumpers, whilst the 991.2 is already out?

    From the article:

"Unlike this test mule, the finished 911 R will undoubtedly feature styling cues from the new 991.2, including the 3D effect brake lights and updated front light signature when it is officially released in March 2016."

3.8 Liter engine is what I've heard as well - and around 300k Euro.......heart

That is more than double what a fairly pricing would allow.  Is it possible that they will make this limited car as well as a GT3 with manual option (for half the money)?

Um, how bad could a lack of a wing really be? A normal 911 without a wing can already do nearly 200mph, so I'm sure it will be just fine.

991 use extended rear spoiler in its Carrera versions. And extended position is obligatory for more then 120km/h. For a good reason.

You can get a GT3 for let's say 150k, why the "R" with exactly the same engine, no wing and manual gb should cost 150k more?? Smiley What so special will I get for this additional 150k?

R8 had the same thing and I'm pretty sure you could manually lower it whenever you wanted by just holding the spoiler button down...

    Because idiots pay $400-500K for a manual 599 while an F1 599 can't even find a buyer.

    Re: 911 R Thread Closed

    2 or 4 seats?

Manual for over $200k? Total waste of time. At $300k buyers are just plain stupid.

You are missing the point. The manual 599 are very very rare (30?).

    There will be many 911R...

I guess two seats. Saw in some article that it will come with rollcage as a standard.

I thought they are already sold out. Is the 911 R just a normal model?

    Re: 911 R Thread Closed

I truly hate the game that Ferrari and now Porsche play: here is new model and BTW it is sold out. They should introduce a model, meet the demand then shut production.

Amen .  I've had enough of the games.  At the end of the day it's still just a car.

The lip on the front spoiler doesn't look as big as on the GT3, contrary to what people are saying about the front aero being unchanged.  Or is it just my eyes?? Also, a small diffuser isn't going to produce the same downforce as a wing.

    Re: 911 R Thread Closed

I don't get the fuzz here - if you look at 997 speedster Prices here in CH , Sport classic , 997 RS 4.0 , why should a very limited car wtih obviously some goodies/configuration no-where seen in other models be cheaper ? The fact that they have already obviously more deposit or buyers than cars allows them so - and history has shown that limited always attracts. So all fine !

And with its very limited production could we see its prices on eBay @ 500k Euro?!

    Re: 911 R Thread Closed

991RS is also at 319 here in CH around 100k more - whether they will go for this Price I dunno - but since they have 6000 deposits and around 2000 cars build chances are that some just want to have a car now.....

Believe it or not the RS in Saudi is not as sought after as say a turbo.. People here care more about fast accelerating cars than track oriented..  I had to order mine from Abudhabi simply because the dealer here was not interested in selling that particular model.

It is coming in February, it will have the 3.8 GT3 engine. 918 owners world wide gets first dibs, not just in the USA.

    probably first real spyshots. Cheers.

Yes, this is the car and someone isn't pleased. Smiley

Also, latest rumor indicates GT3 engine with 3.8 l with 475 hp, backseats(!) and a few weight reductions (carbon body parts like hood, etc.).

Price tag starts with a 2 (2xx EUR) in Germany but I don't have more details. It won't be cheap and it will be limited.

Also, car will be as fast as a 991 GT3 but changed aerodynamics will be compensated by a very clever rear diffusor system (surprise surprise...luckily you can already see it in these photos Smiley).

    Re: 911 R Thread Closed

The car I saw with the very same license plate Y3028 had backseats and no roll cage. I cannot view the photos right now because of a VPN glitch but if the car in the photos has a roll cage, it has either been mounted afterwards or this is a different car (license plates are not bound to single cars, these test cars have a KBA certification and the license plates can be switched). It would be foolish for Porsche not to offer backseats but maybe they just decided that they aren't necessary on a limited model beyond good and evil priced car. Smiley Everything is possible...would be sad though.

Oh, the car had PDK, no manual.

I hope they get rid of the center-lock wheels.  If they want narrower tires, they could just use GT4 wheels (but they are not forged and any car costing over $200k deserves forged wheels).
