I've always thought of the symposer technology as a bit like this:

    dual-head-stethoscopes-78888-163895.jpg

In fact, maybe that is where it could go.... driver decides where the engine' heartbeat should be measured, put the ear inserts in your ears, and rev away!

Putting that stethoscope feeler on the fuel pump should give some drivers palpitations at European fuel prices.  Smiley

I wonder why people do not protest the current fuel prices.

We are basically at the same level we had years ago, when oil prices were around 200(!) USD a barrel.

The only reason I sympathize with electric cars is actually because of the impertinence of oil producers (I mean those who sell and market automobile fuels). I get it, supply and demand but I'd say that currently, the oil companies are trying to keep their profits by compensating the raw oil price with the fuel prices.

The German government gets "involved" in every business but when it comes to fuel prices...nothing. Zero. Zilch.

The German government, like other European governments, gets far too involved in automotive fuel prices. Taxes are by far the largest component of what we pay for our fuel.
That's the reason why, shameless as they are, politicians still can't protest too loudly about the oil companies without blushing.   Smiley

Intersting tidbit. In the past when you generated solar power and sold it back to the grid there was no fee. The electric company was buying at the same price it was selling, so basically you could use the grid for free.

This has changed, now they are charging a hefty "delivery" fee both ways. Tesla has home batteries but they are still pricey and take a lot of space.

Except Tesla doesn't start shipping until 2016, and the prices Musk quoted in the intro did not include installation, so they will be even more pricey by the time you get them up and running.

On a more serious note: Be careful with your joke because I am pretty sure that, at some point, solar energy will be taxed. They would probably use the time of the sun shining and calculate the tax based on some complicated formula nobody really understands. It will happen, latest when people have their own power generators and produce their own energy. The government always finds a way to squeeze money from us. Smiley

They will need the extra money. Before it was Greece now it will also be VW.

Just take the money earmarked for Greece and give that to VW. At least they will know the money will definitely be repaid by VW, not so much with the Greek.

In the case of Greece they have to follow EU/Eurozone decisions also influenced by Obama. Not so simple to avoid.

Showing solidarity to Greece hasn't done harm to Germany's international image. VW on the other hand has damaged Germany's  post war industrial reputation and it might even demolish the "Made in Germany" mark.

BTW there is a lot of "Schadenfreude" in many countries about this German slippage. Something I don't share at all.

part of our state and local gas pump taxes contribute a significant portion of the funds used for wear and tear road repairs, etc.,  ..and the last I checked , full electric cars are using AND wearing out these same roads , so it makes sense that their drivers should contribute to this " road maintenance fund " one way or another for obvious reasons , esp as they become the dominant mode  of propulsion in coming years

I cannot see any reason why electric cars shouldn't pay. They are mostly heavy too.

What are the arguments in favour of full electric not paying? Pollution-free? The production of electrical power pollutes.

It is SPASM or SPASM/PDCC since it has different front lip.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 2016 Porsche 911 [991.2]

The front lip is indeed different and indicates Sport-PASM (with or without PDCC) as pointed out by Kreso indecision

    Re: OFFICIAL: 2016 Porsche 911 [991.2]

surprising how you can hear the turbo whine on roll away ...kinda cheapens the sound and trust me, the sound in real life does not compare to current S....I heard a PSE equipped 991.2 S  up close starting up in an open parking lot and rolling away like this and on the track two weeks ago at Laguna Seca ...low pitched and no higher harmonics .....this video even has the artificial enhancement of an echo chamber/ shower stall effect of the gasoline station's  canopy

the orange base 991.2 with base exhaust sounded very quiet on start up and roll away and we joked it was a hide in plain sight  full electric car prototype under the skin as it lapped the track

look at any configuration of the new car and tack on the mandatory PSE  tax , otherwise you'll be owner a fast vacuum cleaner , as heard from outside ( inside will be all sorts of sound trickery version 2 , once you hit the sport button )

    Re: OFFICIAL: 2016 Porsche 911 [991.2]

    @bluelines: Indeed! Thanks.

@MKW: Sad to "hear", i.e. read. surprise

    Re: OFFICIAL: 2016 Porsche 911 [991.2]

I saw/heard the car too in Zuffenhausen.  Looks great, but sounds quite tame compared to 991.1

I would still consider it though - would need to drive first...
