Hehe, thanks fellas. They really are chalk and cheese, but both bench marks in their own way. Can never tire of a proper NA engine smiley

@crayphile: Much appreciated. You are correct! kiss

But seeing that we are in a Porsche forum, back on topic.

That's an AMAZING collection Smiley. As the GT3 RS has PDK while the others don't, let me know how to get used to a missing third pedal Smiley. Again, wonderful collectionSmiley.

I have now 1000 km . I am still breaking it in . Consumption the way I drive at the moment, a mix of town, country and highway , not  taking it very high into the revs is 15.5 l/100km . I can do more or less 600 km with my 90 l fuel tank . ( that will change quite a bit once I fully open the throttle )

Average speed is 53 km/h for those 1000 km !! mail  I only encounter roads works at the moment, and very slow drivers !

I can't stop smiling driving this car . Is is truly a Dr Jekyll and Mr Hide  . The car can be so tamed , calm , quiet  and then change into a beast when you start pushing !!!  Such a joy to have !

I managed another small drive today  to one of the local ski resorts, and did a small pass at the same time ....

    Insane! angel

The car looks really great! wink

It is interesting to read your real world feedback that the car can be tamed, calm and quiet. I remember some members claiming that this car will be sooo extreme that it almost cannot be used on the street. Well, happy this does is not the case, but that it offers both Dr Jekyll and Mr Hide kiss I get the feeling it is more civilized than the old RS, mainly thanks to the PDK. Would you agree?

How much longer until you will push it? indecision

Wonderful pics once more Eric, thanks so much.
One question which has been bothering me ever since we saw the first pics of the RS diecast model:
How is this detail in real life? In the pictures it bugs me big time, I hate the deliberately misalignment.
On the other hand, I know that often these details "disappear" in the bigger picture when you see the real car, rather than only pictures...

For people having extended range fuel tanks...gauge doesn't seem to move until it's below the standard fuel tank size.  Possible that nothing is wrong, unfortunately.

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

FWIW: Fuel tank: If I fill up my 997 GT3 CS 90l to maybe 70 liters it will show that it is full until I have driven a while. Irritating to say the least.

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

    Interesting observation I just realized,

Contrary to most people who owns both marques, both my Porsches are an appreciating asset and both my Ferraris are a depreciating asset. Not many people can say that to their possessions.

It was a surprised to myself and I didn't really think about it until today.

Did a grocery run today to Safeway in the RS, normally a 5km round trip, but I went to one that's almost 50km away. Seems like I do not want to get out of the RS once I got in.

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

@Bluelines : It is not only the PDK that makes this car more civilized at low speeds. It is also the suspension and the whole interior package  .

@Joost : I only notice this misalignment when someone point it out on a photo . In real life it does not bother me at all , as I see the car as a whole . I do not even notice it . But maybe it is just that I don't focus on it .

    @J.Seven : Thanks !

@Whoopsy : it has happened to me indecision I was suppose to go around the block and I end up doing a one hour drive !!! I just can t get out of the car, it is so enjoyable to drive ........ and miss it after a day ! blush

A garage is offering me 40K above the price I paid ! And I know someone who is selling his allocation for 70K over the real price !

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

FYI, we have several GT3 RS owners reporting issues in the German forum PFF about the car "diving" so much in compressions on track such as the famous one from Fuchsröhre on the Nordschleife that the tires touch the plastic cover inside the wheel arch. It goes as far as the plastic cover being damaged Smiley.

Two videos as evidence of this problem:

    1) See at 2:20:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=83&v=BJIJTEJrB2A

    2) See at 1:45:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CY7NaaxdPNA

Has anyone encountered this issue on other tracks?

Really serious problem IMO and very strange after so many test kilometers from Porsche on the Nordschleife.

AP mentioned that during one of the interviews, they stuffed the biggest wheels and tires set they can into the RS, the rears are fine but the front will have a tiny bit of rubbing in extreme situations.

Did the RS owners removed the plastic 'mess' before they head to the track?

The front fender plastic 'mess' that's rubbing is removable, first to gain clearance, 2nd to improve airflow out of the vents.

Guys if some person came knocking at your door and presented you with the following two cars  2016 GT3RS brand new or a 2015 458 Speciale with 13,000kms, and told you congratulations you have won ONE of these cars, which would you choose? This hasn't happened btw, I'm just asking a hypothetical question :)

The plastic part that is rubbing has been officially declared as a wearing part . So this ' problem' is not considered a problem.

It is just as Whoopsy said : it was not possible otherwise to fit the big tires .

The '' mess'' he is talking about is the '' grill'' underneath the air vents on the front wings . They are there only to pass homologation .

But I understood that it is at the back that it touches.

The other Lo owner at my garage put a big camber on his RS. Problem : the front blinkers have now poped out !

I just had the same discussion at my workshop, they had to change the wheel liners to those of the GT3 Cup to avoid rubbing and allow a more track oriented setup.

Porker: Liners: Do you have the parts numbers?

FWIW: TRAKCAR@Rennlist lowered his RS in the front a little, well he didn't, but the guy's that setup the car did and the car started to touch the liners even at moderate compressions.

That shouldn't really be a surprise, as it would otherwise have meant that the space hadn't been used to the max in the RS.

Kobalt, I'll check with them, will let you know. Indeed a track setup requires the car to be lowered somewhat but there's not the same liberty of movement as with the 997 due to the wheel size.

I kinda wonder why Porsche didn't use those liners for the RS to start with.  Is there a downside to using them?

Probably just not compatible with standard-assembly line processes and cycle times, due to "improvised" installation and fixings (such as cable ties, instead of press-studs).

    gt3rs_frontfender_mesh_2.jpg

That's the mesh. To have the full downforce effect in the front as Porsche claimed the mesh needs to be removed. It's primary job is to 'kind of' block stones and pebbles from shooting out through the vents onto the car's bodywork, but it also blocks quite a bit of airflow.
