    KresoF1:

Yes, are therefor it uses reworked SPASM/PDCC. RWS combined with SPASM/PDCC is a must for those in need for maximal drive dynamics.

Hint... 991.2 C4S with SPASM/PDCC, RWS and 450ps factory kit is on street P Zeros as fast on the Ring as 991.1 GT3. That is enough for me. Of course, it will cost at least, if not little bit more then 991.1 GT3 with similar options.

Your GT4 remains untouched as best Porsche bang for the buck.

This is very impressive performance for a "normal" Carrera. Unthinkable a few years back. Torque is king on the track Smiley

...but it does not mean it is fun to drive. The 991.1 Turbo is an even faster car and it is not really known as the most exciting and involving Porsche out there Smiley I guess my point is, impressive numbers are not neccesarily equal to fun.

is the Gt3 going to be a turbo?  that would suck.  this is boring, just increments of improvement.  Im thinking a 488 looks more amusing for Sun.

Sun is aware that a 488 is turbo too, and everything is going turbo, but 488 more interesting and more attractive  than same old 991.

Will the 991.2 turbo lose its ugly fixed tail?  Then Dun might look at turbo S as solution....Smiley

Is the 991.2 GT3 and GTRS going to be turbo?  Sun has these on order [dealer has him first in line when orders open].

I really feel that it is fairly priced (and the 991 is over-priced).  But if sales are strong, I guess I'm wrong about what the market will bear...

I do think things could change rapidly if the global economy suffers even a mild setback though.

If I had to guess, I think the new 4-cyl 981 may receive a price break or at least a freeze, while the GTS and GT4 models may continue with Flat-6 at higher prices.

The new 981.2 GT4 will be interesting.  Will it be Turbo Flat-4, NA Flat-6, or Turbo Flat-6???

The 991 base price is fair, but when adding the neccesary options the final price is off the chart.

The GT4 price is also fair, actually only 10% off the Carrera, but since it needs no options the difference in final price is huge.

I can't see Porsche reducing prices for 981.2. At best, they will be flat, but then more stuff will become optional

    Re: OFFICIAL: 2016 Porsche 911 [991.2]

I have a 991 Carrera 4 GTS Cab and I do not feel that the car is priced right, sorry to say that. Almost 163k EUR is just too much for this car and I could have easily put another 25k on top if I would have chosen some extra leather, Burmester, PCCB and/or a special color. This is insane for a 911 Carrera.

Just got an offer from our local McLaren dealer for a new 650S lease. Amazing offer, actually only 200 EUR more per month than I pay for my 991 Carrera 4 GTS Cab. Insane. Same lease offer is valid for the Spider as well at no extra cost (though the Spider costs more).

With the new prices, I have the feeling that I do not get enough from Porsche. You can easily spec a 991 Carrera top model close to 200k EUR. This just doesn't feel right, sorry to say that.

That is actually worse than what i expected since that is actually with the sport exhaust already and the sound is completely ordinary, as soon as the revs rise there is nothing, close your eyes an you can be hearing a european hatchback or Japanese sport sedan with a sport exhaust.

Same here... that sport exhaust sounds terrible. Sounds as the car doesn't like to scream... sounds exhausted!

If you love a "classic" 911 sound, you will be disappointed. The new sound is not muted or very bad but generic. Which makes it boring in my opinion. I guess however that some 911 customers will appreciate the new exhaust sound and the new turbo engines, otherwise Porsche wouldn't have done it (I guess).

You're off by a decade, if not sooner.   Remember that the Panamera Hybrid has an EV mode so when the 992, or possibly even a later version of the 991.2, goes hybrid, it will have an EV mode; must keep the urban centers quiet.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 2016 Porsche 911 [991.2]

As a owner (my father) of a 991.1 Carrera (non S), my opinion of the mk2 is mixed.

I do like the front and rear lights a lot. Even the new thin door handles. The 918 (or macan) steering wheel style too. PCM looks absolutely great.

From the engine perspective, I have mix feelings. Having listened to the first youtube videos of the exhaust. I am with Carlos, it does sound a bit like a hatchback, that 911 characteristic sound has been lost (at least a bit). It does not sound bad at all because the growl is there, but for sure is not the same as a 991.1 specially with PSE activated and even more with SPORT button activated. And that for me is the best of the 991 era. Apart of the iconic design (shall say 911 illness we have? indecision, cant stop looking at it.)

A lot of future 991.2 owners wont order PSE option for various reasons, and judging from the videos, stock exhaust is a joke.

How is possible Porsche went for 3.0l engine displacement. My little Boxster is a 2.9l

I really see 996 / 997 gt3 (all variants)growing even more in value, and 991 gt3 and specially RS too. Will porsche continue the next GT3 RS with the iconic 4.0l engine displacement ?? I really hope so.

3.0L is quite big for a turbo motor - no real need to go larger (F1 cars made 1,200hp from 1.5L over 20 years ago).  And there are tax and other regulatory reasons to stay just under 3,000cc (especially in China).

500cc is a very reasonable cylinder size.  IMO, the 4.0L Flat-6 while super cool is not the most effective design.  Anything over 3.6L would be better with more cylinders...

Also, dont forget - modular design. 2 liter 4 cylinder (i believe on future cayman and boxster), 3.0l 6 cyl - 911 and 4.0l 8 cyl - 960, fefi or whats the name ?)))

I guess the 2.5L rumored for the top 4-cyl will spoil that formula (maybe they will abandon that idea for cost efficiencies?).

Yes, in comparison: AMG A45 381hp 4-cyliner turbo is 2.0l, Audi TT RS 360hp 5-cylinder turbo is 2.5l, M4 425hp 6-cylinder turbo is 3.0l, Maserati Ghibli 404hp 6-cylinder turbo is 3.0l, McLaren 650S 641hp 8-cylinder turbo is 3.8l. So the new Porsche engine fits right in! Smiley

Video from driving 991.2 on Hockenheim. I think it sounds quite good from the inside and to my ears not very far off the 991.1 . The car in the vid has PSE and it's enabled... New PCM looks nice and the smaller GT-steering wheel looks also great!

A cylinder volume of 500 cc seems to broach an optimum volume for fuel efficiency and power with numerous automakers following this formula.  A few weeks ago, there was an announcement that Audi and Porsche were working on the next generation V6 and V8 motors for both groups; the capacities, no surprise here, are 4.0L for the V8 and 3.0L for the V6.  With this, one can extrapolate that the Porsche four cylinder motor could easily be 2.0L in capacity.  It might seem like a regressive step for the Boxster/Cayman pair, but with a purported price cut and/or fixed price with increased standard features, room can be carved out for a lower priced, more basic 991.2.
