    Re: OFFICIAL: 2016 Porsche 911 [991.2]

blues are my favorite car colors , hands down , and the new Graphite Blue is interesting in a modern techie way ....BUT ...I  don't think this color would hold my admiration very long as an owner because I would be constantly redefining it between a grayish  blue ( good ) and a bluish gray ( bad )  every time I approach it ...not a good thing

besides, I swear I have seen something very similar to that  color on Acura and Nissan sedans off and on for years

    Re: OFFICIAL: 2016 Porsche 911 [991.2]

Sport Bucket Seats appear in the German and Great Britain configuator.

Do they appear on the U.S. one? NO

How long will we have to wait?

You would not be able to access the rear seats with the Lightweight Buckets in the front. They can probably be mounted, but then the car becomes a 2-seater.

Without the lever you can reclaim very important space inside the cabin.

like Ferrari already did years ago ....I agree with you ....get rid of the redundant shift stalk and that  flimsy vent blocking swing out cupholder perched dangerously over the expensive electronic bits in the center stack and put a proper deep wide , spill containing cinching mug holder in the console !

that will happen 100 % guaranteed in the 992 , as the manual transmission will be history in all 911s , so the center console will ax a selector stalk , just as they have already axed the console's  space- occupying manual parking break lever

i hope they ax the whole center console, it is an outdated concept. the cabin in ferraris is so much more spacious because of no console

that is what it should be - a two seater- at least configurable. the other option is a four seater with a dedicated torture zone in the rear:::))))

there is something "off " about the design of these new wheels, as opposed to the nice center lock mesh ones on the current GTS ...can't quite put my finger on it ....they look sorta " generic off the shelf cast BBS from the 1996  Tire Rack catalog "  for some reason ....maybe the thick vertical rim where they meet the tire bead ?

Spot on - agree! Like BBS 1996! But... plenty of other choices!!!

is the Gt3 going to be a turbo?  that would suck.  this is boring, just increments of improvement.  Im thinking a 488 looks more amusing for Sun.

New options that will be introduced with C4/C4S models will include 450ps power kit, new sport design kit and new aero kit.

Btw, German price list and catalogue are on German Porsche web site in pdf.

Chassis is amazing according to those who drove it but the sound is...how to put it..."ordinary". However, one guy I know told me that he is happy the 911 has been slightly "muted" down because he felt that the constant typical 911 sound was annoying and tiresome. Smiley Well, to each his own I guess.

Now that the tail lights are official (told ya...Macan style Smiley), I can tell you that I'm not a huge fan of the design. I may warm up to it though but right now, in my humble opinion, the "old" 991 actually looks, in a weird way, like the newer car. Smiley

You should read the "fine print": Of course these impressions can't be qualified until we actually drive the Gen 2 991 but the signs from these late prototypes are very good.

The final car sounds similar to my wife's Macan Turbo with sport exhaust and it sounds better (more 911-like and louder) from the interior (so car journalists should maybe mention if they are referring to the interior sound or exterior sound Smiley).

PSE exhaust pipe tips are now old school " American -styled " hot rod blingy with their mirror -finish chrome plating and thick rolled  edges as opposed to traditional European sports cars with exhaust pipe tips that looked like someone sliced a more muted sophisticated looking brushed - finish pipe with a swing of a very sharp Samurai  sword

Since the new turbo charged engine doesn't sound as good as the "old" N/A one, Porsche had to add value to the PSE option by offering a new design as well. Clever move if you ask me.

That is actually worse than what i expected since that is actually with the sport exhaust already and the sound is completely ordinary, as soon as the revs rise there is nothing, close your eyes an you can be hearing a european hatchback or Japanese sport sedan with a sport exhaust.

Except for RWS is there a difference in the chassis? My naive assumption is that the -20mm S-PASM and PDCC are same same as on the 991.1?

    Re: OFFICIAL: 2016 Porsche 911 [991.2]

No, they are not the same. Since weight distribution is little bit different. Clever potential 991.2 buyers will wait for C4S since 500Nm is a lot and it features more natural weight balance.

Now, fun to drive? According to someone whom I really trust yes.

Ah, it got more heavy in the a55 Smiley Those extra 40kg mostly sit behind the rear axle then due to turbos, intercoolers, etc...

    Re: OFFICIAL: 2016 Porsche 911 [991.2]

Yes, are therefor it uses reworked SPASM/PDCC. RWS combined with SPASM/PDCC is a must for those in need for maximal drive dynamics.

Hint... 991.2 C4S with SPASM/PDCC, RWS and 450ps factory kit is on street P Zeros as fast on the Ring as 991.1 GT3. That is enough for me. Of course, it will cost at least, if not little bit more then 991.1 GT3 with similar options.

Your GT4 remains untouched as best Porsche bang for the buck.
