Gnil:From the front it looks a bit like a modern London Taxi !
But it is better from the side .
What chassis does this SUV use ?
Audi Q7 by the looks of it?

Yes, the Q7 which will also be used for the lambo SUV.
I'm just hoping the Maserati SUV ends up looking better than this. Was told by two different people who saw it in the factory that it looks like a nicer cayenne. Fingers crossed!
IMO the style is very appropriate for the Bentley clientele. The Continental 4 door doesn't look any better than the new SUV and yet it sells to the Bentley loyal.
Maserati? No relevance. Different customer base and different rank among the wealthy. Maserati should be happy/lucky to get a fraction out of the Cayenne sales.
I like the rear 3/4 view

Relax, no one said anything about Maserati going after Porsche. They said it looks like a nicer cayenne which is a complement to the cayenne's design.
You are a bigger Porsche fanboy than RC used to be ten years.
Read carefully what I write.
I simply mentioned that Maserati (which you hope will look better than the Bentayga) in relation to Bentley are in a totally different class. If Maserati would get lucky they might take some of the Cayenne sales with their SUV.
Fanboy, who? Isn't it you who is dreaming of/drooling over Ferraris all the time?

I am sure that this car will be a huge Hit.
I can see the Bentley Boys and many others getting out of their top of the range Range Rovers and into their Bentaygas when they need an SUV.
British class with German engineering all arranged by Wolfsburg

This is a great solution for me, as I prefer to travel with my champagne and silverware in an upright position, as opposed to having them lying down when I use the Mulsanne.

I agree the looks are challenging at best. But there again I felt the same way about the Cayenne Turbo but bought four of those over time including a Turbo S because of its combination of performance and practicality. The Bentley just adds the luxury element to this combination but at a significant price hike. The torque figure on this engine and 0-60mph performance are impressive no matter one thinks of the looks and the unfortunate Bentley brand image.
No doubt it will sell well. And that it will look much better in real than the pics... And price makes much more sense than a Cayenne TTS or a Panamera TTS... Yet I am not a big fan of recent Bentley designs of the CGT and this SUV looks too much like it. I wish they used Muslane cues instead... This might be a good deal if it trades at 50% off after 3 years...

Indeed very appropriate.... just not sure - if you can afford a Bentley, why don't you have a house with enough space to store your silverware anywhere in your kitchen? Please explain

Very well said. Actually, I like the Bentayga, a very nice SUV for those who need a bit more. Design-wise, I would prefer the Range Rover or the Cayenne but a 600+ hp V12 in a SUV? Count me in. Unfortunately, I cannot really afford it but for 100k EUR, slightly used, after 3 years, this could be a good deal.
I am pretty sure that this car will replace a lot of high end SUVs in Miami, Dubai and other wealthy regions.
Bentley did good.
