the new much cleaner door handles do look great

the UK microsite does not work on my MB Pro .. it looks like my laptop is not powerful enough .. seems like the laptop needs a turbo too!

You may be laughing but these new door handle architecture does wonders for aerodynamics and assists lateral stability over 200 km/h, especially in crosswinds.

On a more serious note, the new handles look neat but nothing to advertise.

On the porsche.com microsite where all the new features appear, the active flaps at the front are not mentioned at all. Only in the brochure there is a reference. I thought Porsche would give more attention to this new feature.

I agree! Thx to Porsche brochure I saw this thing. Zero oficial information from Posche about the active front flaps.

We can only guess that this feature (active front flaps) will be similar to 918 Spyder.

I agree! Thx to Porsche brochure I saw this thing. Zero oficial information from Posche about the active front flaps.

We can only guess that this feature (active front flaps) will be similar to 918 Spyder.

"Active air intake flaps.

The active air intake flaps in the front air intakes act to reduce fuel consumption during everyday trips and to achieve superlative performance on sporty drives.

As on the 918 Spyder, the flaps close automatically while the car is in motion and thereby reduce drag. On demand or in SPORT or SPORT PLUS mode, the flaps open and help to provide optimum engine cooling.

This means that cooling air is supplied only to the extent that it is actually needed.

Looks like somebody has made a right mess of the configurator. It was working for a short while yesterday albeit very slowly, however today it just seems to give an error message.

Wow, they really botched up the 3D configurator. The colors were always off, but now they are not even remotely close on the interiors and, on the exterior, so heavily shaded that they don't even remotely resemble reality.

On previous models (997 and 991 Gen I) that part of the bumper was very flexible and it deformed whilst under even a minimum of pressure. Nothing serious but it gives an impression of low quality.

Perhaps, the new lines give some sort of backbone and make the plastic more rigid.

That's the only functional purpose I can think of.

1. They FINALLY flipped the stupid PDK lever so downshift is forward and upshift is backward.

2. Sport package as offered in the U.S. seems mandatory, though expensive.

3. Interested in seeing the new colors like graphite blue.

It wasn't long ago that a 996.2 Carrera was in the $6x,xxx range. Now an S starts in 6-figures before options (and base Carrera $90k). Pretty serious inflation...

That's more inflation than I would've thought - so I guess cost of Porsche is fairly closely aligned to that. I remember when the 993 came out (MY1995) as a big improvement over the 964 and was several thousand $ cheaper too...

One thing that will be interesting for me to watch at the local track is the performance of the new Carrera S vs. GT3. With the high altitude, the C2S should be faster than GT3 for less money (and the possibility of manual gearbox and 5-lug wheels). A 3-year old C2S might be a decent bargain (still in warranty and steep depreciation).

Also, what about all the talk of the new turbo motor using electric turbos to reduce lag? Is that going to be debuted on the "Turbo"?

No, maybe we will see electric turbos on 992. And that maybe is big maybe.

Why? Technology not fully ready yet or maybe as in triturbo setup case never will be(for petrol engine at least).

991.1 Turbo models has this details since they were revealed....It's just a styling detail and nothing else. No need dig too deep into each detail, not every detail must have a function. It's only a fresh look.
