F1 success is so scarce for Ferrari these days that Vettel after two wins he gets a car in his name
Seriously, is this a Ferrari Special Projects one-off for a customer, or for Vettel himself perhaps or a limited production series car?

Nothing special nor limited about it. Reminds me of the 911 limited editions that pops up every year.

exactly. shameful that ferrari does this.

Well, tell me what's "shameful" about this. It's just a California (their cheapest car) that is held in the colour scheme of their current formula one cars. Nothing more, nothing less. It's just like somebody's "Black Edition" or "Valentino Balboni". You can like it or you don't, but I find nothing shameful about it.
We're at the point where you can be the fastest or just sound like you're the fastest.
The secret of life is to admire without desiring.

shameful is that ferrari gets into that kind of cheap sales pitch.

Well, they have to sell their California T somehow, don't they? I guess it's as simple as that.

They can by offering good deals on it. Ladies and kids love them.
Come on , Ferrari is not sacred, they are a car manufacturer trying to make money in a limited segment.
They are a business trying to survive alone (given new ownership following the IPO) rather than within the old FIAT empire and their accounting tricks and subsidies.

nothing to do with being sacred, it is just a matter of bad taste.they survive very well even without alonso and vettel editions.

Ferrari are becoming a global brand in order to increase sales and bring the cash in to the satisfaction of the new investors and survival as a more independent manufacturer. Therefore, they have to cater for all kinds of tastes beyond the traditional norms of patrician old Europe. For someone in Azerbaijan with lots of money this variation may look very beautiful and desirable, as an example.
IMO following the money makes good business sense although purists might object at first.

you are probably right with what you say. then the main difference between ferrari and porsche is that the former do not make SUV's (yet).

Lars997:I dont like the exterior two tone color. I don't like the red metallic and worst - the textile seats, they look like a Fiat Punto. And that chrome trim around the black color elements.... I really don't get this at all.
Not my cup of tea
Agree 100% and I don´t like the black wheels too, but then again, many of these special editions from Ferrari, Lambo Porsche among others brands have always some special features than don´t go along with good taste, this Cali V is a goood example.

Well, an Alonso edition wouldn't sell that well either.
