To me the resale is of secondary concern. The difference should be immaterial as the greater daily drivability of the 991 GT3 should also make more people consider it for that use than the 997.

If you are mainly going to use it on track get the buckets. If you are going to use it as a daily drive and only occasionally track it get the normal seats. Buckets are a pain for daily use and the standard seats are adequate for occasional track use based on my experience.

You are going to enjoy this car so much! The engine noise at full acceleration is addictive - from the inside and outside of the car.

Kreso, follow the above advice. If you're using it as a DD, ditch the cage. Also, the standard seats are so much more comfortable than the buckets. Smiley

    Absolutely, Nick.

This debate about adaptives V buckets goes on and on but if its a daily drive coupled with getting in and out of the car frequently then its got to be the adaptives. Jmo though..

I have the 18 way adjustment seats and you can get the perfect position to suit.

Ok, got an excellent offer yesterday from my PZ. They will got 2 991 GT3 afte industrial holidays in Germany. Cars are build and I got VIN for both and all details.

Now, specs are almost the same with one huge difference-one car is with P07 Adaptive seats and other is with P03 Folding buckets and Cage.

Which one to choose? Is cage really limiting package area on the back that much? Which one will have better resale value in 4 years or so? My plan is to keep this car for at least 3 year period.

Opinion from 991 GT3 owners is welcome. Thanks.

I'm not a 991 GT3 owner but I'm seldom short of an opinion, welcome or not. Smiley

Even if you wouldn't track the car yourself, go for the Clubsport but have the cage removed and put into storage until you resell the car. The cage makes the "luggage" space behind the seats unusable.
The holes in the carpet can be "patched" in the meantime and the fact that that the car was not previously tracked should fetch a premium price when it comes to reselling it.

Unless for you the cage is free, I would skip it, since it sounds like you want to use the space behind the seats:

1- agree as stated above --- No cage if you want to carry luggage!!!!.  We threaded bags through the cage of our RS last year and it sucked.  Folding seats will help slightly but not much.  Folding seats like our GT2 seats in the 2015 GT3 make it moderately difficult [instead of a bitch with a cage and non-folding] to get bags in the back without a cage.

2- the cages are no longer easy out - my dealer if telling the truth - had many hours labour getting the cage out of our 2015 GT3.  Sun ordered it as it was free in NZ.  Sun sold it for $2k to the dealer who swears he lost $$$ taking it out -- and putting it back in would be more $$$ and hassle.   He also had to switch the rear carpets out of the car he sold the cage to into my car...  for that unholed look.

Just my voice of experienceSmiley  why f.g bother?Smiley

Gotta have the buckets, but you already know I think that.Smiley

    Thanks guys,
Excellent news is that I got call from my salesman and he told me that he has GT3 production slot in first week of September if I am interested.
I am currently in my summer house on Adriatic coast and this news made my day!

Idea is GT Silver with P03 seats, full leather alcantara with silver stitching, front lift, PCCBs, Black LEDs, full Navi and few minor options. Delivery last week of September.

Other cars are Guards Red(Sport Club) and White(P07 seats, no Sport Club).

I think that GT Silver will look awesome with Platinum wheels and PCCBs.

i am sure that porsche will play the same game with the RS: keep them scarce now and then......voila....suddenly new quotas will show up when everybody thinks game over....

    peter

I think I mentioned this in an earlier post that it could happen. Dealers may get additional quotas this autumn/winter, this is why I suggested that people who haven't gotten one, actually stick to the order and keep on trying. There is no guarantee but if, just an example, the new 991.2 isn't that much of a success in the beginning, Porsche could be tempted to produce more other models (incl. the GTS btw.).

GT3's on the market:  I've been noticing, even in our very small market here in Canada, a rapid increase in (obviously still low mileage) GT3's for sale.  Now up to 19 on AutoTrader site, which likely does not catch everything dealers may have.  Any ideas from those in the US / EU if this is happening there too?  and if so, just part of normal "many buyers flip fast cars" pattern?   They can't all be receiving the RS model....   As to price, most seem near MSRP; one dealer has already posted a $5000 reduced price over initial posted price.

In the German Porsche Used Car System, there are two used GT3 for prices around 145-155k EUR.

    There is even a used Cayman GT4 available...7500 km...for a whopping 120k EUR. mail

Yesterday, I saw a newly arrived GT3 undergoing PDI. Very nice in yellow with ceramics, buckets and front lift.

This car is the most emotional sportscar from my point of view and a statement for the 911 (high revving n/a engine, motorsport connection) . In Germany this car is/was a bargain and every Porschephile should have one in that low-tax market.

I agree, it offers the best value for the money, with the exception of the Cayman GT4 maybe.

The Cayman is nice but it has the previous 997.2 Carrera S engine which is not bespoke and no PDK. The manual gearbox is a blessing for some but it puts off many others.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

Right now, if I would win the lottery , I would get a GT3 RS. Period. If I wouldn't win that much, I would get a GT3.

The Cayman GT4 is a somewhat a bargain but I wouldn't get one because of the manual.

My Shelby GT 500 is real fun to drive but the manual isn't necessarily helpful. The clutch has been gone once (now I have a two disc race clutch installed) and when the rear comes and you need to pay attention to it, everything else than steering and playing with the throttle can be very distracting.

Local dealer sponsored a low key track day last weekend.  RC I'm sure you could drive the GT3 in your sleep better than I do, but I enjoyed the car immensely nonetheless.  What I find so impressive is that the car is at ease wherever you take it, road or track.  That evening I drove my wife to dinner on Palm Beach. Have to give Porsche a lot of credit for this car IMHO.  IMG_0712.JPG

Maybe, maybe not...I do not know but it doesn't matter. What matters is to have fun on the track, we are not professionals. I always hate it when we drive on a track and one idiot comes and has a knife between his teeth, putting the others in the group under huge pressure and even endangering them. Yes, my driving skills are above average to say at least but I usually have fun when I'm out with my guys and one of them is a real pro and never tries to be faster or to prove himself, we are just having fun and enjoying ourselves, also knowing that even a minor rim damage can easily cost 2-3k EUR (one of my buddies has a Carrera GT and you don't want to know what a rim costs...).

I am very seldom on the track, simply because I don't have the time since my kids are still in school and I spend my weekends with them and my wife. When I am on the track, I want to enjoy some relaxed driving, not go for record track times. The people I usually join are very nice and civilized people but sometimes, there is that one guy who just needs to prove himself and he puts everyone else under pressure. Last time I just stopped driving after two rounds only because this guy in his GT2 RS drove me mad. Later on, he made jokes about my car (991 Turbo S at that time) but when my pro friend (he is a very well known race car driver in Germany) told him that I could drive circles around him, this was very satisfying because he certainly believed him. Not sure about that though, the GT2 RS driver was pretty good but he was an ass, not keeping his distance, overtaking others in very risky passages and driving as if he would fight in a championship, not just for fun. People like him take all the fun out of a relaxed track day because I do not want to risk my car and come back home with an accident.

I hope your track day was much more fun. Smiley (sorry for the long rant).

Professionally organized track events are quite OK because the instructors usually have a lot of experience and when they spot an "racer boy", they know how to handle him. Our events were always privately organized for various reasons (mostly privacy) but from time to time, a friend brought a friend of a friend and....well, you get my point. Some people think that if someone like Adrian Sutil is with us, they need to prove themselves, which is total crap. Professional race car drivers do not join such events to achieve record times, they join them to be with friends, friendly people and to enjoy their (private) cars (Sutil has a CGT btw., among other cars) in a closed circuit of friends, where they can be themselves (btw: they are wonderful people, not arrogant or whatever) and where there is no pressure.

RC - You are spot on. The prof drivers I have met at the track are happy to share pointers about driving the track - where to break, early/late apex, etc. I haven't found them to be arrogant. They wanted you to be safer drivers and provide you driving skills that go beyond the race track.
