The Mobile 5W-50 was used when doing the oil and filter change at 3000km by the Porsche dealer. It could be that they changed it from the 0W-40 filled in from the factory. Im going to check to confirm that I am actually still running the 5W-50 as the just gave me a bottle for free during the last warranty works which I'm storing in the frunk.

I think that is excellent oil and very good for the motor, but often a good oil does not make the list because it has too many additives that are good for the engine but cause the catalytic converter to last a shorter time. But if you ever have an engine failure under warranty, probably safer to be using an A40 oil.
After warranty and if using race headers without cat converters, then use the best stuff you can find (with lots of Zinc and Phosphorus, ZDDP)...

This is the stuff I use (usually on the A40 list, but not always between certifications) - says A40 here though:

Just a note about Motul 300V, on my 997GT2 with built 3.9l engine I used 15/50 300V for maybe 20K miles and have had 2 failures of a sensor involved with the variocam (haven't got exact details to hand) which is an unusual fault to have particularly twice.
One of the trouble shooting recommendations was to question the grade of oil being used ie too thick could cause the problem. My shop changed the sensor and we went back to Mobil 1 0-40 and all seems good agan.
My racing shop also recommended the 300V but remember race engines tend to be a bit different to street engines and in particular they don't run the variocam and associated bits...
The above episode has certainly made me think again about ignoring Porsche recommendations.

Yes, all of the A40 oils have the first number as a 0W or 5W. Anything thicker is not approved and not compatible with Variocam. 5W40 version of Motul 300 will not have same issue as 15W50.
I wouldn't use 15W50 in anything newer than the air-cooled cars (where it would be perfect). It's not just about temperatures and Variocam, but the newer cars have smaller gaps (tolerances) between bearing surfaces where you need a thinner oil to lubricate properly.
I do think Porsche uses 0W40 from the factory because it has the best performance for fuel economy and cold starts. I think 5W is probably more desirable for a car that is not driven daily, not driven in freezing temperatures, and driven on the track.

Which is very hard to find it in canada well, i mean gallons not quarter ones. I have to drive to state to get it.

Local Colorado guy (Rob) does good for all 991.1 GT3 owners worldwide 
This new warranty is good for 1,200 track hours at average 100mph (160kph) or over 10 motors' worth at 9k rpm (most race motors that rev this high are good for ~ 100 hours). Only applies to this finger follower failure mode. Standard warranty applies to other causes of failure.

Only if it is related to the finger issue. Based on what I have read, this particularly failure is unlikely but it does provided a measure of peace of mind to the owners.
Grant, an inordinate amount of tracking will certainly cause failures of other parts of the engine and as you stated would not be covered by the extended warranty.

True, but standard 50k miles is already 100 Indy 500's. Every other weekend for 4 years 
If someone was intent on tracking as much as possible in any year GT3, he'd likely receive at least one free engine (retail price of $70k). Those who track like that are getting maximum value (and fun)

I'd say that this is so important for us - that we can trust Porsche even in case like this.
It is uttermost great news for all current and future 991.1 GT3 owners.
Now I just need's to buy a 991.1 GT3 quick before all the owners gets the good news so I can get me one cheap and build myself a Tracktool.

Got news today that my oil drinking engine will be substituted I.e time for my second engine change I.e third engine so far in my GT3.
So no worries buys, just drive them as they are meant for, hard on track
Theres been a lot of talk in various threads about Porsche price strategi, value etc... Well, for me, this behavior from a manufacturer is exactly what’s builds trust. Porsche is good for there word! For me that is worth a lot, so let them have a good margin, they are worth it. 
The same can not be said about a lot of other manufacturers discussed on RT, no one named.....

Since some are on their 3rd or 4th engine in only 3 years, what happens after 10 years when these engines still keep popping. First ownerships obviously don't care, but the second hand owners will surely be majorly frustrated.

From what I understand they keep improving the engines over time, so the third one should be better than the second than the first...

Jeeps, she is over 3yr old and still has its original factory engine . Make mine a rare one right
