Crayphile, impressive lineup. Some great cars you chose, and did that with impeccable taste. Does the Aventador coupe stay next to the convertible? How different are they from each other in terms of suspension setup and chassis rigidity?

Great car. Thanks for the detailed summary. From what I coukd gather definitely an underrated car. I keep wondering why the F40 and Enzo are so much more appreciated.

    Re: Aventador and SV

The F40 has the aura of being the last road car project Enzo himself was involved in so it has attained a mystique as a result. In all honesty it is a bit of a lash up in terms of build quality and it is very evident that attention to detail and a high quality of finish/materials was not a priority at all. The Enzo was produced in more limited numbers (but by quite a lot more than the factory officially admit to), is more modern and has unconventional doors which are more impressive if you are using the car to impress I guess.

The F50 is very different from the F40 in both engineering terms, design and overall quality. Whist still not exactly a pinnacle of quality in the way the Mclaren F1 was it is still very obvious that it was a low run car developed under the watch of Luca di Montezemolo as the attention to detail is much improved on it. The F50 doesn't always photograph well and is a design best seen in person before passing final judgement as the camera fails to pick up on a lot of subtle details. The side air intakes for example don't look anything out of the ordinary in most photo's but are vast when you see them in person.

Surprisingly little scuttle shake from the Roadster as the  car is a mix of carbon and metal. The car feels slower and quieter than the Coupe at the moment as it has not had the official power upgrade (software based) that the Coupe has - I will report when I have a true like for like comparison . I may be imagining it, but turn in seems more precise on the Roadster  - probably because its going slower! I will most probably only keep one of them.

I heard similar too. I still think the Huracan Performante is the car to have.

    Re: Aventador and SV

Yes.  I know this is in the wrong thread, but i don't feel like sifting through the forum, and its technically an aventador with a bodykit. But anyway, I've finally found the downforce of the veneno: 500kg.  If the SV can do a 6:59 with 218kg, then imagine what the veneno could've done.

That article doesn't give the speed at which that downforce was measured, so comparing with another car's downforce where speed is also not specified is very likely to be a case of "apples to oranges".

I won't argue with that, but at least we do know what it is now.  So thats somethingSmiley.  If the DF is active around the same or slightly more than the P1, then it shouldn't be that bad.  Since the P1 has the max at 250kph, if this does it at 250kph or even 300kph, then at least we do know it how much it has compared to the SV.  Plus, its 125kg lighter, so at least we now know that design isn't all showSmiley

Slower than normal Aventador and Huracán SmileySmiley. Nice V12 tho Smiley

    Re: Aventador and SV

That had to have been a bad SV.  Ive tried to find the test on GCF, but can't.  But I highly doubt that could have been a good SV for it to be slower than the regular aventador.heart  Also, why on earth is the 991 3RS slower than the the 997 2RS?

    Re: Aventador and SV

9972 RS has vastly more power and torque.

    Re: Aventador and SV

True. But the 3RS is newer, has a much better tranny, probably better downforce, newer tires, and probably something else that i can't get right now (my brains a little hazy after a carb overload). But on all of the tracks they been on, the 2RS is only faster on the Hockenhiem GP, but only by a little less than a second.  You could also count Rockingham (less than 1Sec), but that was done by two different mags, so that one is all up to you.  Im not going to count the N-Ring sine the 3RS was done on a wet lap, but even then, the 2RS was only 2secs ahead, especially on a track that has a super long straight.  So out of eight tracks and one figure-8 tracks, the 2RS only won one, and even that one is a bit shaky as it was done during a cup event for the 3RS, and the 2RS was done by a Mag, but i'll allow it.

Outside of those few, the difference is either .5secs or less, or greater than 1secs in favor of the 3RS.

    Re: Aventador and SV

The same reason the 911 Turbo S is as fast(or faster) than the GT3RS. Despite 3RS having lots of downforce, less weight and probably better cornering balance the Turbo S has more power, lots of torque and AWD.

2RS is RWD, 6speed manual and doesn't have AWS or newer tires etc but the power and lightness are there.

    GT3RS: NA engine, 500hp, 480Nm, 1420kg, 2.84kg/hp

    Turbo S: TwinTurbo engine 580hp, 750Nm, 1525kg, 2.63kg/hp

    GT2RS: TwinTurbo engine, 620hp, 700Nm, 1370kg, 2.21kg/hp

    Re: Aventador and SV

I think Audi plays it way too safe with the Aventador and even the Huracan. These cars would easily take 30-40 hp more , even with the current drivetrain and ECU programming but they probably want these engines to last 200k km without a single problem and this is ridiculous.

Time to rethink the strategy and give the Aventador and Huracan the power they deserve. Also, at these prices, they could easily shave off some weight. 50-100 kg would already be enough.

Just yesterday I read a comparison between the 570S and the R8 V10 Plus. From 0-160 kph, they accelerate basically the same (6.0 seconds) but from 0-200 kph, the gap was already 0.7 seconds in favor of the 570S (8.7 seconds vs. 9.4 seconds). On the track a similar situation, 570S is always 2-3 seconds faster.

The reason? Well...the 570S is 200(!!!) kg lighter than the R8 V10 Plus. 200 kg. Insane. With 200 kg less, the R8 would destroy the 570S. I don't have a clue why Audi (and Lamborghini) cannot lower the weight of their cars. The technology, especially on the Huracan/R8, is basically racing tech (they share over 51% of the parts with the Audi LMS race car, which weights almost 400 kg less than the R8 road car).

Time for Lamborghini (and Audi) to up their game, sorry to say that.
