His wife didn't even know he is buying that car Smiley

He will probably tell her that it is an old 911 that is worth not much and he got for it a bargain, as they raise in value , it is actually a great investment Smiley

She is not that stupid. After all, he already has 3 Singers sitting at homeSmiley

    True, wholeheartedly agree.
The pricetag for this upgrade is mindboggling though. I understand that they have to earn back R&D cost over a very low number of sold units, but geez... Doesn't me from dreaming though! Like Lars also mentioned, I think I would prefer this over any other hypercar (except maybe the 918).

Cray, do you know whether you can order a sleeper with Singer? As in, leave the outside as much stock as possible, but under the hood change everything to the Singer standard? Now thát would be awesome! Drive what looks like a regular 964, but in the mean time... Woosh!

    Hm, yeah, can imagine that!

A while ago, I read in an interview that the goal of Singer was to introduce upgrade kits as well, rather than just the full package cars. Are they still moving in that direction?

I read that too. To be honest, I wouldn't be super pleased if I paid north of €500k for my full-on Singer, to see them introduce cheaper 'light' packages that offer for example the same styling, engine bays, etc...

If that is the case then I have not heard it. After the limited edition track monster that is being shown shortly at Pebble Beach, they will turn their attention to a Turbo no doubt Smiley.

Thanks Cray! Can imagine it was their dream in the past to sell performance and stylign upgrades, but realised soon that they hit the honey pot and are now catering towards the extreme high end only?

Re: Donor vehicle for Singer Vehicle Design

For as long as I have owned 911s there have been upgrades to the aircooled motors from various shops. Singer is not the first but it used to be that you took old cars and put newer engines and body kits on. Even V8 engines. Singer is just the first to do much of anything with the 962 and also part of a recent trend to make newer Porsche's look like 73 or older.

I'm on the fence about their actual value. I would prefer an original 73. That said I would take that original engine and turn it into an MFI dual plug monster in a heartbeat. Maybe upgrade the MFI to something more modern but you get my point. I don't need to spend Singer money to have a fast old 911. Can still add coil over shocks etc.

Yeah, I'd want the Williams-motor version whose price is beyond absurd (but I'd have one if my bank account was big enough).  This non-Williams version is awesome too and represents better value, but don't think value enters the equation for this sort of purchase.

You know you can build the same spec with half that price and reliable one. a chap in RL from calgary did that, you know its been 3 years now without any issue.

Ah... the unanswerable question. It is unique for me because it has an air-cooled engine , none of my others do. The design is just a perfect amalgamation of what we all love about 911s and the details are so numerous you can spend hours looking at them. The drive is unique as well  - it has the lovely wriggle in your hand steering of old 911s , but way more stability and grip at the rear end. I still don't like the 1st to 2nd gear change dynamics but beyond that, and over 4K revs it feels  nearly as quick as my modern cars -  but the sound is from a different universe. I can tell you when others visit to see the garage, this is the car they can't take their eyes off Smiley.

Do they 'guide' or advise you when speccing one, or are you left entirely to your own imagination?

The red you chose is stunning Smiley

If I could I would have a Singer as my main fun car for the road . It just ticks every box I like about cars and 911 .  I have seen one drive around here twice , a black one .

They provide as much or as little input as the client requires. I went there with a specific idea of the kind of look & "drive feel" I wanted for the end product and we took it from there.
