I agree with you. I guess an after market exhaust is in order.

From what I can hear from various videos so far, I rather like the deep growling sound at low revs. To my ears this sounds nothing like souped-up Turbo S as someone stated here at rennteam before the data crash.

Now I know it won't have the high pitched shriek of it's predecessors at high revs, but it remains to be seen (and heard) in real life, how the car sounds and performs under such circumstances. Concerning revs, 8.000 rpm surely is enough, at least for me. Smiley

I heard it full pelt at Goodwood over the weekend. I think the conclusion is clear  - astonishing performance, aural aspect well down on N/A engines from Ferrari. I am not however in the camp that says this is a disaster  - progress and change is always difficult to accept initially but everyone gets used to it in the end

And of course you're in a very comfortable position. Smiley

BTW thank you very much for you in depth comparison between 488 GTS and 458 SA in the old and now lost 488 thread. Smiley

I remember how people went psycho when Ferrari introduced the F1gearbox. Almost everyone hated it. Some even compared it 2 a playstaion. Although it had major issues when it first came out, it did evolve into becoming the standard gearbox on most sports cars right now.

    hi kreso,

i can definitely live with the sound of the F12 VS:::)))) i was assured by people who have seen it that the car looks spectacular.

at least i won't have to worry about depreciation.

given the 599GTO prices i do not think that it is too early to be sure....

I think you are right Smiley - but I'm just not sure, and it has no bearing on my buying decision. Bear in mind there will probably be significantly more of these produced, and it will not have the GTO badge. The 599 GTO dipped in price before the crazy bubble we are in now inflated.

sure true. it does not influence my buying decision either but it is a comfortable feeling. i hope there is still a small chance for the GTO badge though.

anyway, i am not yet 100% certain that i shall be on the list but chances are....

    Re: 488 GTB/GTS

I missed out on the LaFerrari but I am not for the F12 'GTO'. I will have one allocated to me but debating whether to actually get it though.

They try to convince me that if I buy the GTO then next time around for the successor LaFerrari I will be 'in for sure'. I on the other hand is trying to convince them that let me buy a LaFerrari then I will get the GTO  for sure'.

    Wonder who is gonna win.

    Congrats Peter. Excellent choice!!

You don't have to worry at all about depreciation. The car looks twice as special as the 599GTO regardless of whatever name they end calling it. Go red for maximum resale value Smiley

Word of advice, Don't pay any big down payment till you get confirmation from factory. Many Ferrari dealers will gladly take deposits on limited editions and keep it for months. Then They'll tell u sorry you didn't get it, although they already sold out their allocation or knew they won't be getting non. I know it sounds super shady but it happens more than you think.

totally correct.i gave 20K euros to the dealer for the 488 which he can apply to the F12 VS if the allocation comes through. if not, then it is 488 for me.
