Good timing:
His conclusions about how comfortable and usable it was in the lower modes matched my own. A special thing, I think.

I think the STO needs to show what it can deliver on the track.
For street driving, the Performante is (in my opinion) the better choice (AWD, faster straight line, less expensive to maintain and repair).
Look amazing though (the STO).

This forum's been sadly lacking in R8 content recently - here's my attempt to redress the balance:
After my surprising look at the Huracan Evo (great fun, very exciting car) I thought I would see how an R8 V10 Performance compared: could it deliver most of the Huracan experience but at a lower cost level and with some extra practicality thrown in?
Firstly I was quite surprised how different the interior felt: It seemed like the windscreen had a much steeper rake, and presumably this is what helps the car have some extra headroom in comparison to the Huracan - but it also gave it a feel a little akin to a 993. On one hand it was nice to get some conventional controls back - e.g. stalk indicators and wipers, and rotary knobs for volume controls etc, but on the other had, there were so many buttons everywhere. Bewildering. It had some sports seats though, which were very comfortable and supportive, and I had room for a helmet.
Drive-wise it felt pretty similar in all respects except the engine. The power rating is very close, but the sound in the R8 is very subdued in comparison. Somehow it didn't have the craziness the Huracan delivers when you get on the gas - even at sensible speeds. Overall I couldn't help thinking it felt a bit like a normal 911 to drive. Very practical and usable.
I guess in conclusion, it was what you'd expect of Audi's interpretation of that car - they made it something less brash and shouty, and something your neighbours wouldn't throw eggs at. Something that could happily be used as a daily driver. But with that they lost the aspects that made the Huracan such an event - which puts a smile on your face whenever you drive it. I concluded that despite all the practical plus points, the Audi was not for me...

Very good conclusion. The R8 is basically the refined and daily driver friendly version of the Huracan.
For a short moment, I even got my wife to think about a R8 Spyder instead of the 992 Turbo S Convertible but the tax advisor wasn't too pleased with the R8 idea, neither with the Urus one. 992 Turbo S? No problem.

Agreed. This is going to be a difficult car to spec but taking all the diamond stickers off is a good start! Some better combos here from Lamborghini's design head Mitja Borkert https://www.instagram.com/mitjaborkert/

Red and gold is a match to my incoming SVJ Roadster - specially specced for my friend @nberry.
Did you spec it with the GT2 RS body?

DocMo:I’d pick one of these two! Really loving the Evo RWD Spyder.
Maybe I should get rid of the E63S AMG, get a Skoda station wagon + Lambo ;) My wife might decide to leave the house though
Don't worry about your wife: My wife was threatening the same, until she saw the Lambo and drove in one for the very first time. Take her on a ride with a dealer car, she might want one more than you.

RC:Well, you‘d be surprised (or not?) to hear that VW Group won‘t sell Lamborghini but kind of put them together with...Porsche. 🤗 Porsche and Lamborghini, Audi and Bentley...this will be the new reality. I think VW Group‘s (soon to be announced?) decision makes sense.
Lamborghini must be talking to Porsche already and taking their advice on the Huracan range..
The number of Huracan variants that are continuously released are probably only exceeded by the numerous versions of the 911
