    Finally pulled the trigger!

I had been trying to get an allocation for a GTS 4 Cab since April 23, in the meantime I prepared an alternative build, using a C 4S with X51, Black Natural Leather (Leather to Sample) and Deviated Carmine Red Stitching, which was looking pretty good.

I tried to rationalize that the performance would be very similar and I couldn’t imagine that the in the end they would be too different. I also thought that it would be a relief not to have the lower clearance of the GTS and I could get leather seats. And I could get the Carrera S wheels in Platinum Satin for an additional $1,100, instead of the $11,000 that they asked me for to include it in the GTS. Still the GTS was pulling me in…

I had checked around a couple of weeks ago and there were a few GTS available, but not how I wanted to order them. The Cabs seemed to in even shorter supply. So a couple of days ago I reached out to Porsche Princeton, where I had bought my first car and tried it again. The first feedback was that it would be nearly impossible to get a GTS 4 Cab. I told them to try their best and if not possible we would go with the backup option, the C 4S cab. About two hours later I get a text message. They got a GTS 4 Cab, but I only had the next day to make any changes. By then I must have spent 20-30 hours on the configurator, and it got more and more expensive, but I knew what I wanted. The last decision was on the color. I was thinking about Lava Orange or Jet Black. My wife vetoed the Lava Orange (and I think she was right), so I went with the Jet Black. I got a good deal on my trade in, $47K for a 2006 C 4S GT Silver with X51 and terracotta leather and a 7% discount on the GTS.

After a lot of going back and forth, I ordered the GTS 4 Cab with PDK  (still with some trepidation), PCCB, Burmester, LED Headlights in Black, Multifunction wheel (hoping that I may be able to retrofit the Macan style wheel) and a whole lot of leather. I plan to keep my car for a long time so I’m not concerned with the depreciation.

I think the car will be a stunner, if I may say so, and I know that it may be one of the last NA 911s. The good news is that delivery from the dealership is estimated for August 28

    Re: Finally pulled the trigger!

    Congratulations. kiss

    A few things though:

    1. Carrera S and GTS have the same ride height

    2. The Multifunction wheel looks ugly (my opinion). IF the Macan wheel will be retrofittable, I rather suspect it will replace the Sport Design wheel, not the Multifunction wheel (but I have no clue!). Get what you like best NOW, you can worry about the retrofit later on.

    3. The black LED lights do not look that black in reality, careful. I didn't choose them because the daylight running lights actually lighten up the black housing even more, not really delivering the "blackened" effect everyone is hoping for. If you have the chance to compare the black Bi-Xenons with the black LED headlights at your dealer or wherever, do it.

    4. The PCCB yellow calipers don't go too well with the red stitching in my opinion. Maybe you should look at the silver stitching OR maybe your dealer can persuade Porsche Exclusive to offer yellow stitching (not sure this is possible). I tried to get red PCCB calipers but apparently, they are not an option, MAYBE for big money and I didn't even bother to get a quote. It is of course a matter of personal taste. If you like the PCCB with the red stitching, thats just fine then.

I bet you can't wait until the car arrives.

WOW - the config is indeed a bummer!

Hope you will receive it soon and enjoy it many many hours.

    Congratulations!!!

    Re: Finally pulled the trigger!

Thanks for the input, but I really only had one day to make changes. Not enough time to go to the dealership.

I think the Sport Design steering wheel looks better, but my impression was that the Macan Style wheel had the multifunction capability, that's why I leaned that way. I know I can retrofit to a Sport Design, but you cannot retrofit from a Sport Design to a multifunction.

I went with the LED Black Headlights at the recommendation of Melissa from Porsche Exclusive.

I will try the yellow calipers for a while, but I have already identified a paint for calipers and if I don't like I'll have them painted.

I'm really looking forward to getting the car. What kept me pulling in the direction of the GTS, was the exhaust sound and the hope that it will give me a performance that's somehow more direct and more raw than the 991.

The LED light is really great (had it on my 991 Turbo S) but the Bi-Xenon isn't that bad either and I already mentioned the "issues" with the black LED headlights.

Not that easy because it would void the warranty for the PCCB. Seriously! Also do not forget about the Porsche lettering, which isn't easy to apply in that quality.

    Smiley Fully agreed.

    Re: Finally pulled the trigger!

I think that a lot of folks worry too much about being too color coordinated. I'll try the yellow calipers for a while. It is not like they are inside the car. If I don't like I'll have them painted red.

Like I said before, it isn't that easy to get them painted in the same quality Porsche does and incl. the Porsche lettering on the calipers. Caution. Also, if you bought the car as a keeper, at some point, you will notice the color and you will regret not choosing the "right thing" from the start.

I am just raising some concern here, not really trying to spoil your fun of ordering the car the way you like it. Smiley

    Re: Finally pulled the trigger!

great build - you are in New England and so I bet the heated steering wheel will really be appreciated more than a simple decision based on esthetics.

the PCCB's - great choice and adding that yellow to the black car and red stitching gives us a little of the German National colours - great combo that pulls together all things German!
