LP997:I see the car in LO and it's more red than salmony.... LO is the best color for this car but it's personal
Saw the car in person as well and I have to agree. It gets "salmony" when the sun shines very bright on the color but this wouldn't really bother me, especially not in Europe.

nberry:fritz:nberry:I still not understand why they used brackets to affix the wing. Definitely looks like an add on and cheapens the look of the car. I know they are adjustable but the GT3 wing is adjustable and it doesn't have those cheap looking brackets.
Cheap-looking brackets?! That's race car technology!
Nick, Nick. You are on the wrong forum.
Fritz, that is nonsense.
This is a road car suitable for a track. The brackets look cheap. If one was not a Porsche enthusiast the clear impression is the wing was an add on and an ugly one at that. What is wrong with a GT2 type wing?
People cannot help but to think Ricer when viewing the car.
Since you compare it with the GT2: I think it was some German auto journalist who described the 996 GT2 as being "an athlete in a pinstripe business suit".
That same journalist might be inclined to think of the GT3 RS as an athlete in tight Lycra shorts. Those "techno" wing struts are just the elastic waistband holding up those shorts.
FWIW, I also preferred the faired-in combined wing struts/induction air inlets on the GT2s from an aesthetic point of view.

997 GT3 RS 3.6 - 964 RS - Waiting 991 GT3 RS
I took home the Lava Orange sample from the dealer and placed it on my wife's RS Orange Boxster for comparison. Lava is considerably more red than the RS Orange and also has more red content than the old Blutorange/Tangerine of the 1970s. However, Lava is very close to Blutorange.

Who would have thought that color could be such an entertaining item in this thread ? OK, I do like to read all these opinions about whether this and that color is whatever looking - however, I don't really care as long as the person choosing such color is happy about it. Just saying...Perhaps, one has to wait for some serious road tests to get this thread into another direction, because this RS, IMO, - and I can certainly only refer to what I read / have read somewhere - seems to be the most powerful track toy currently on offer (though, we all know that the most exciting one is currently being driven in Zurich...)
...So, no bashing intended, but I just wanted to express a little bit my thoughts about these, again IMO, great achievements of engineering by P, which are currently a bit left aside....

Considering that the McLaren is "just" a street car, it performs IMO quite well against a track weapon like the RS
Quite surprising, that the McL has almost the same cornering speed and traction out of corners?

it is BOTH ...incorporating " minimal weight " form follows function race car methodolgy and granting its owners maximum in your face street poser cred ,...even for the few who tracks these valuable cars .......let's not beat around the bush on this point !
