ALDO:RC:I actually like it but they wrapped the tail lights too (with a darker foil) and this is illegal in Germany (this is a German company).
Christian,
driving faster then allowed is also illegal
50% of my Harley is illegal
my sons cars are also illegal (both have wrapped tail lights)
A guy I know had an accident a couple of years ago on the Autobahn which involved several cars. His tail lights (BMW) were not wrapped but they were darker (part he bought on the internet, looks like OEM part but darker). One insurance claims agent observed the darker lights and he had to pay 70(!)% of the damage himself. Over 10k EUR. Not pretty.
Just saying...it can go well and it can to sideways.

Yes, it could happen, but not when an insurance guy has seen something. In that case the insurance has to prove that the accident has happened by 70% (in that case) because he had darker tail lights. Maybe it was so. There are a lot of such stories cruising around in my Harley community. The best example is a different exhaust. Every Harley has a non-standard exhaust. And maybe 10 or 20% are legal.

The accident I mentioned was a chain reaction rear end collision, so the insurance claims agent claimed that the guy behind the guy I mentioned didn't see his brake light bright enough. This whole thing went to court anyway because a few people were seriously injured but that guy I mentioned had to pay 70% out of his own pocket. I do not have more details but I kept this in mind because in my 20s, I had used a spray to darken my tail lights.
As to US motorcycles, it isn't much different to US cars: It is very very difficult for the police and even for TÜV employees to know which parts are legal or approved and which aren't. For my Mustang for example, Ford Racing offers tons of parts which can be added or switched and I know many owners who already drove through TÜV with them without being bothered. Simply because there is no real documentation for this kind of stuff and many imports do not have manufacturer logos or specific part numbers or similar stuff. My insurance couldn't even find the specs for my car in their system.

Z356:I also would like to clarify something posted by Whoopsy earlier on this thread. He says that he heard that 'Ultraviolet' production is delayed until December. Moderator Aldo correctly reports that 'Ultraviolet' RS's are currently flowing freely in series production at Zuffenhausen.
Today I received the opposite report from what was told to Whoopsy. A source at PAG told someone I know that 'Ultraviolet' production on the RS will end as of the end of November of 2015. So to track down the veracity of this report, I have asked our Rennlist forum members to inform us if they have any confirmed production for an 'Ultraviolet' RS in December? Or for any other standard or special color ('White', 'GT Silver', 'Lava Orange') in December? I presume many of the PTS 991 gt3 RS builds (since they need minimum of three month lead time from confirmed order with PAG to assembly line start up date) will be pushed into batch production late in the year...mostly destined for December. Does any of you know of any confirmed .1 991 gt3 RS scheduled production for January 2016 or any of the months following that? Could .1 991 gt3 RS production end by December 2015 with the last of the PTS builds? If any of you have any factual information that might shed some light on this topic, please let us know.
Saludos, Eduardo, Carmel

Whoopsy:If Webber ordered his GT3RS in Viper Green, I wonder if the Viper Green 918 currently sitting on the production line is his? It also has Viper Green trims.
He said in the article that Red is the proper color for 918...

He was advising me to change my choice to PTS and drop the LO as he found it to be very salmony
And that is coming from someone who owned an orange car before .

A PTS RS is a very cool thing, if you don't mind the wait.

You will eventually like the colour, because it is your car with your personal spec. But, there's the possibility that you could like it better in a different colour

I felt the same at Geneva. I'd have no problems owning a truly orange RS but that colour looked weird under the lights. I haven't seen it in natural light though.
If it helps, I skipped an October delivery on my GT3 based on:
It nearly killed me to wait for a March car but I'm glad I did. If doing the same would give you the window to go for PTS and get a colour you really want, I'd do that. I'd go Viper Green or Mexico Blue with some coloured interior trim and platinum wheels

Eric,if i come from a "standard" waiting time(2/3 months) ok,i can add again 1/2 months to wait PTS,and in that case i would go with mexico blue(and i'm sure to not ho wrong, also if there is the problem of the inside part, that can't be modified, stitching etc.,you must leave them all black..).
BUT
We came from a long wait, too long!really, these days are really slow to pass for me,as more as i see car delivered the slowest the days pass.So...no i don't whant to add another day. Also brown but i whant that car soonest as possible.
i don't think that Porsche choose the wrong colour to launch a car that is so "special",also i LOVE the orange part of the seats and other inside parts.
So....
