    Boyko23:

    So, to expect power updates?

Retroactive blanket power updates for all cars can be ruled out, as power output is "fixed" in Type Approval or Certification data for the model.
Provision would have to be made for retrospectively updating individual cars' official registration data to comply with the relevant local laws.

It just doesn't really arise, Nick, as no car manufacturer would facilitate a blanket retroactive engine power upgrade.

Individual cars can naturally be tuned to enhance their engine power outputs, and the measures necessary to keep them strictly "street legal" will vary from country to country, depending on the relevant local laws.

Giving car manufacturers a free hand to retrospectively change significant certification-relevant features without "official" sanction in some form would make a mockery of the certification procedures.

Pretty much. When I had my 12C and McLaren released the power update from 600 to 625HP, all the cars that gets it also gets a new certificate saying the car has the update.

I'm just telling it the way it is for those who may be interested.
That it really is that way is confirmed by Whoopsy's post on his experiences with his McLaren, which was in itself a pretty unique state of affairs, and one most car manufacturers would try to avoid like the plague.

No, absolutely not aimed at you. Just a broad brush stroke, I should have used "They're". I know you (as is fritz) have no hand in it.

    I heard the same thing.

Nick, I am glad that your car is running healthy.

THEY were glad my car is running healthy too, I am one of the most vocal owner they have.Smiley

Well, if Porsche would give me one of those pre-production cars to drive it on a daily basis and give feedback, I would be a very vocal person too. Smiley

Engine line was shut down 5 days ago. Porsche announced the production has ended yesterday but not exactly true. They meant there will be no more 918s entering the production floor.

My friend JUST finished his factory tour literally 2 hrs ago. 14 cars left on the floor, one at each station. So actual END of production where the cars will leave the production line is next Wednesday. Then another week or so to validate the last car. IF nothing goes wrong the last of the 918s will leave the factory before Aug 1st. The cars on the floor right now are all custom once offs, including the ugliest one ever, McDonald's colour scheme. Speed Yellow with full red interior and even red badging. Smiley

    great article Fritz - thanks!

The asking price for a 918 on the used marketis now double the original list price.

you should have had the gods to get one! mail

    Key word: asking price...

Re: 918 latest news Thread Closed

The last few cars that changed hands were at 1.2-1.4mil US, and 1.5mil CAD.

Went back to my dealer to pick up my car, saw this Birch Green Turbo Cab getting PDI-ed

    IMG_4008.JPG

    IMG_4009.JPG

Looks really really close to Acid Green, and it is the colour Porsche painted the few 918s with and passed off as Acid Green I believe. Only difference between the 2 colour is that the Acid Green has more 'pop', fluorescence-wise.

    Gotta love individuality.

I remember riding with Hurley Haywood years ago in his personal baby blue Turbo.  Each to his own….

Re: 918 latest news Thread Closed

I think that would be a great colour on the GT3 RS.  I have seen some older TTs that have really bizarre colour combos before though.

This one has black interior with yellow stitching and yellow seat belts and FULL yellow gauges.

Yellow callipers too? I know a guy who buys all of his Ferrari's black, with all yellow accents. They look great.

Yeah. Something about the shields tying together the rest of the car with the yellow and black. It all fits. The only car it didn't look good on was the CS for some reason.

Re: 918 latest news Thread Closed

I only wish Ferrari will let me paint the key yellow. It's the only red in my car when i am driving. I even have yellow techs in both.
