    Re: Cayman GT4 & 718 Spyder -- Pistonheads review

Thanks, well explained. That's how I felt driving GT4, a 991.2 C2S. and C4S recently. I know the 911 is quicker, and when left in auto, the PDK is amazing, though it takes away some of the fun of driving. I also love the GT4's gearbox, and the rev matching is ton of fun when driving through an underpass. indecision

I'm not sure if it was the tires, but the GT4 felt a bit more playful in the rear than the C2S as well. I had more confidence in hard corners in the 911s than I did in the GT4, but maybe that will come with familiarity. The choice for me at the moment is the C2S or a GT4. I felt the C2S to be the more exciting car over the C4S for reasons I can't really explain. They were similarly equipped, and both had PDK and PSE.

The GT4 feels like the perfect weekend backroad car, with the occasional short road trip in the cards (when we can do that again), and the 911s felt more civilized, and more practical, marginally. I think you would need to drive them harder to get near the same level of fun that the GT4 offers and that can cause it's own problems.

Yes, significantly quicker since you just have to floor the pedal, the PDK and the turbos do the rest Smiley A real kick in the 991.2, but the fun wears off. Especially in Switzerland where you cannot keep that foot planted for more than 3-4 seconds and then you have no license or make a visit to prison Smiley

The mechanical feel of the GT4 gearbox is great. Short throw and very direct. The rev matching is indeed lots of fun Smiley I am also happy to be back in a car that does not produce fake pops and crackles on the overrun. I more or less stopped driving the GTS in Sport mode and only drove it in Sport Plus. Those “farts” in Sport mode when downshifting were embarrassing.

The GT4 does feel more playful. I had the same experience when driving it. Could partly be down to “feeling” due to the stiffer suspension, because I did not throw it around that hard yet.

Did you try a 991.1 C2S too? Not the same torque, but maybe a bit more direct response.

    Yes, agree.

No I did not, but they have a couple of them on the lot. They also have a 718 GTS Cayman and Boxster, both well equipped with low mileage - but both are PDK. I haven't driven a Boxster since I had my 986 S somewhere around 16 years ago angry, but I loved the handling of that car, even if it was underpowered. I imagine the new models have taken care of that problem.

Also, it seems that the C2S I drove was equipped with PASM, while the C4S was not. I don't think that entirely explains why I liked the C2S much more than the C4S, but likely contributed to it.

Well I finally found one that ticks all the boxes. And it's white. indecision Working on a deal with the OPC, will post pics if/when it arrives.

    Re: Cayman GT4 & 718 Spyder -- Pistonheads review

I saw a nice 991.2 C2S cab last week - started conversation with OPC  but he went quiet after sending me personal video - seems to have sold now. UK market is quite hot right now - hope you get the deal you want!

My sales rep sold 3 cars on Saturday alone, including a Targa order. People are buying cars, that's for sure.

    Re: Cayman GT4 & 718 Spyder -- Pistonheads review

The local Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi dealership hardly have any inventory left; however, the lower priced auto dealers are having some difficulties selling crossovers and cars.  Pickup truck sales and SUV sales remain very strong too.

In the States, those earning under $40,000 are the most negatively impacted by the shutdown and even those jobs are slowly returning.  Real Estate remains strong so the recovery is happening quicker than many anticipated.

Thanks everyone. I pick it up this weekend, and definitely will post better pics.

@bridggar: thanks, I did get a good deal. Prices across the country varied by almost $30k. Some private sellers have  unrealistic expectations on values, asking much more than the OPCs, with little to no warranty remaining and the 4 year service due. It’s a strange market right now.

Market for buyers. So many sellers are tied up with debts against the cars hence still high asking price. Let few weeks / months do the magic and price will decrease further.
