Just out of curiosity, just how fast can you drive out there? Do you worry about getting a Swiss death sentence or are these areas pretty much devoid of traffic/police/whatever?

The Swiss death sentence is way overrated . You guys just get to read the big title on the sensational news . Reality is very different .  Of course we have that crazy '' death sentence '' law ( that is actually at the moment being discussed at the parlement and will be corrected and made much softer )  .  But this '' death sentence'' is only when you drive extremely fast . On A/B roads you need to be at least 60 km/h over the speed limit , on the highway 80 km/h over the speed limit .    Your license is also in jeopardy when driving above 30 km/h on A/B roads , 35 km/h on the highway .

On top of that you can 10 km/h on your speedo that will be deducted ( between your car not being correct and the legal correction )  .

So, on the  roads you see in my pics I can drive up to 119 km/h without loosing my driver's licence .

These passes, are B roads . So they are not main roads, not much traffic, hardly ever any speed check  . Also , most of it are pretty tight  roads, so when doing 90 km/h or maybe 100 km/h you are actually at the limit of what is reasonable  to drive without risking ending in the ditch .   You can have loads of fun , if you know where to go .  Passes like the Furka , Grimsel etc.... are different . They are A roads, loads of traffic , one needs to drive much faster to have pleasure and they are much more often checked by the Police .

Also , I did my drive both ways ..... so one way one does it at a reasonable speed, and if clear of radars, you know your way back can be as much fun as you dare Smiley

The other thing about Switzerland is that we have lots of fixed radars , mainly on the highways, in the city and some A roads  . So once you know where they are, you just lift your foot at those places .  Random speed controls on B roads do happen, but you don't come across them every day .

Exactly 7.25 hours at speed but who is counting. Rockies are nice but I know the difference and so would any Austrian or Swiss.  So awesome.

Is a lift required to drive through the Alps, or can you do without?

I wasn’t planning on driving anywhere else but on the track with mine, but seeing these photos make me want to add a trip to the Alps in the GT3 on my bucket list. Too late for me to add the lift because the order is locked.

it depends on the hotels you choose. i very rarely used the lift on the road outside the cities (speed bumps in the cities but most can be passed over without lift) but often when going into hotel parkings

It looks good. But of all the simulations, I prefer the one from iRacing. It's got the latest GT3 CUP too.

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

I (well, actually my son since he was doing most of the driving Smiley) was a beta tester for a while and now it went live yesterday at midnight.

Graphics? On a 4k TV with a PS4 Pro...amazing. Almost photo-realistic (exteriors are perfect, interiors not quite). Still, the best looking sportscar driving game out there.

Realistic driving simulator? I don't know. I was using an ordinary game controller only for the driving but I just can't get a feel for these cars, the speed always looks/feels too slow but is actually faster and I always brake too late. Adapting is no problem but then, the driving feel is not very realistic.

My son is using his own PS4 on a 1080p TV with a steering wheel and throttle, etc. and I used it as well but something just doesn't feel right.

What I want to say: Great fun, looks great, amazing collection of cars but if someone thinks this feels real, well...it doesn't. Not even close to a real sporscar but I guess they need to keep the myth going, so people (and especially young people) buy this. Smiley

I wonder how real this would feel if I had one of those high tech seats with built-in hydraulics and stuff. Won't get one though, not worth it (I prefer to drive a real car).

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

It's too bad it's not very realistic. But it's a different concept than a real simulator, for a different kind of audience.

Car simulations with VR headsets must be the real thing, no more triple screen setups.

They advertise it as the "the real driving simulator"...and kids believe it. Smiley

I got a Sony VR headset for my PS4 Pro but returned it back after two days. Why? If I can see single pixels, this is no good to me, sorry to say that. The resolution is great compared to older VR headsets but I'm afraid even Sony isn't there yet. My 65'' 4k TV looks much better for gaming than the VR headset, even if it had a certain attraction for the very first hours of usage. I really recommend to anyone wanting to get the Sony VR headset to try it first and then decide.

I guess the next generation or maybe the one after the next will be the one to buy. Smiley

It not very real when considering how nice the curbs of Nordschleife are when driving on them in Grand Tourismo.

Or when you think "I'll drive the shortest route" and just drives across the grass, and not very much happens...

Got my copy today and have to go through all the boring classes to unlock the races Smiley

It won't feel anything like the actual car, but what kind of wheel are you using ? The higher end ones seem to be a lot more responsive than the ordinary wheels. I'm using T300 RS from Thrustmaster.

I'm hoping they will add Carrera GT in future downloads with the older GT cars 996 & 997.

    So far only these are available: GT3 RS / GT4 CS / 911 RSR / 919 Hybrid

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

When you're old enough too drive, driving games tend to be less fun. They just don't feel like actual driving. I'd love to try a real simulator like F1 teams use.

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

agree that no driving simulator can replace actual driving.

in simulation, I never mind crashing my car.  I don't mind leaning onto the other car to get ahead.  Or as Kobalt said, looking for shortcuts.  Can't do that in real driving.

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

No matter how good the graphics get, and how much I get my hopes up, they just don't feel real "enough", the interaction is just so detached to the real thing, that is the real problem, it doesn't matter how real the graphics or sounds are. After 15 minutes I'm bored and unamused of the whole thing. I've tried in the past but have given up eventually. I'm sure a real F1 simulator is quite different though.
