Your silver wheels are perfectly appropriate, some grey (not black) wheels might have worked too.

Better color balanced shots of PTS Birch Green (old Porsche color #253 from the '70s):

I have seen that color in real life, and these are the closest match ever for that colour in photos.

Thanks!  All credit to the photo shooter who took care to properly white balance (or whatever) the shot.

When I hold my iPad Pro up to the car the match between the display screen and actual car color is quite good Smiley

My brothers RS with a, for me at least, NEW issue. The body is scratching the BACK tires...! I've heard about problems regarding the front tires, but this was new to me. His dealer told him that this issue was new to him as well. I been on track with my brother on all track days his been to this year and it's just "normal" track diving och tracks without any real compressions....

I am a bit confused, since the professional drivers in Leipzig told both me and Whoopsy that they never experienced any rubbings and trust me, they drive a lot more on the edge than my brother....indecision

    Anyone else seen this before?

And please, excuse me for not getting the pictures turned the right way. Easy fix if you have a IPad, but sorry to all of you using a computeryessmiley

Ouch!  That tire is done.  How many km (or track time)?  Yes, Kobalt said there was a known issue about rubbing on both front and rear.

The only change that I would make to your RS is the orange side markers to clear...that's it.

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

Well, about five track days with approx 250-300 km on each i.e approx 1250-1500 km on track for this tires....laugh

Yes maybe, but why the need for it? This is a car that I really expect to be very well tested, ON TRACK, before it is released, or...?!!heart

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

Well it is a road car with some track ability... Maybe they haven't tested it enough or the consumers are pushing them more than they expected?

You have no idea how much we pushed it on the track, and the instructors too just so they can stay in front of the Cup cars!

I suspect it's more about out of spec alignments. The tires are quite a bit over sized for the body and there is only a tiny window in which it will work, not as forgiving as other 911s with much smaller tires.

    Ouch angel

How does the rest of the tyre look, across the tread? What pressures did he run? The Dunlops need higher pressures than the Cups.

How often does a car being tracked gets off alignement?

The cars are often delivered with poor alignment and riding the curbs at the track can knock out alignment too.

    Yes,

I wrote about it on Rennlist:

    http://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-gt3rs-and-911r/933356-rs-rubbing-front-and-rear.html

"There is a Service action: 28-16 (Workshop manual/4X00)

As I understand it they check the wheel alignment so it is original.
In the front they replace the liners with new liners that are modified with heat by the Porsche Workshop.
The plastic mesh in the fenders are removed.

In the rear the fenders are rolled to give more clearance. (FWIW: My dealer did not have the tools for that.)"

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

I believe the cars are set properly within spec when they leave the factory, but during transport, the strap downs and bumps can probably know it off. If during PDI the tech got lazy and didn't check the alignment, they would be off and hence the heavy rubbing issues.

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

I really like to track my cars and have on numerous occasions been offered to step up and by a cup car. But to be honest, I don't have the interest or skills for mechanical work needed for such a car i.e the car would cost me a lot more than the official price since I would have to employ sort of a team to take car of the car....frown

My ambitions is not to start a racing career, so for me the GT cars are a perfect mix/balance allowing me to develop myself and my skills on track without too much fuzzsmiley

But with all this talk regarding alignment, set up etc I'm starting to wonder if I might as well buy me a cup car, since it seams I will need a mechanical team just to have a "ordinairy" RS running correctly on track....yescheeky

+ 1 . My dealer also told me to check my alignment regularly as they get quickly out of line on the RS

The Farmer's brother needs to have this checked ASAP .

my porsche center just told me that they have checked my GT3RS and the oil consumption of about 1 liter / 1000km is - according to PAG - normal. well, maybe normal for them, not for me.

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

    Mine 0.8 at 6000km

So I guess there must be something wrong with mine if I ask Porsche.

I'd have it checked before you drive another km!   Smiley     Smiley

IIRC, anything up to 1.5l per 1000km is considered acceptable for a Porsche.

In my experience, the cars which tend to use a lot of oil from new tend to reduce their consumption quite a lot after being run-in. (Say, by the time they reach about 6000km).
OTOH, I've had some which hardly used any oil at all before the first 20000km service, so there is a degree of inconsistency.

My 997.2 has always used quite a bit of oil, since the beginning . I was also told by the garage that it was normal, but when asking other's , they did not have such a high oil consumption . Anyway, now with 120'000 km it is getting a little bit better indecision

Yesterday tourist driving was postponed for two hours. I was hoping for a Koenigsegg record attempt.

It turned out to be Manthey Racing doing some tests before the Nürburgring 24H

I woke up to the nice sound of these cars starting up and leaving the old pits at T13.

Listen to them lapping for an hour then I went down to the end of the long straight:

    Listen and enjoy.

Peter, pls note that the digital oil bars have been taken over from the 991 - but represent in the GT models a different consumption. I had this explained by my dealer as well - I don;t recall the exact number but if you "loose" 3 bars it's less

than 3 bars on a 991 - probably not all People you talk are educated to that Level and tell you some BS....

    hi Björn,

well, there is certainly a point to what you say. in any case i filled in more than 1 liter so far (1250km). the dealer said they have an independent way of verifying the oil level and it seems to agree with the car's measurements. will double-check with him though.

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

When new my GT3 had also quickly used some oil - they refilled 0.8 Liter and now 4k km later still fine....
