I prefer the more clean look, especially with the C4S, because of the light strip. No sunroof, no wing or ducktail. Just the clean shape of the 991.

    SuzyF:
When I was looking for a C4S, mine came also up to about CHF 230k, but that was with all the options I wanted, including for example, leather to sample and paint to sample. Still a rediculous price though...

That suggests to me that there are already lots of 991s running around that cost about this amount; just that the owners will never admit what their options added up to.  (or what hit they will take upon resale)

But seriously, I believe that one of the appealing aspects of the factory "parts specials" is simply that most people (RT members excluded, mostly Smiley)  have serious difficulty in choosing tastefully coordinated, and sensibly matched, options among a huge and confusing option list such as Porsche offer.  It is simply overwhelming to this mostly male purchasing group, who struggle to get dressed each morning without committing serious fashion faux pas.  The factory specials are "pre-approved" by people who know the PAG option list and who presumably have chosen well and tastefully - yes they are expensive, but less so than a new Porsche that I have screwed up the options on.

In fact, there might be a market for a "taste consultant" who could, for a small fee (first 4000 km driving??) assemble unique but tasteful option packages for would-be Porsche buyers, who are among the overwhelmed (males) who could commit serious errors.  Golly, we don't know of anyone on RT who is known to be skilled at options and selection in PAG products, do we??  Smiley  (moi?  she says.... Smiley

Mine was exactly CHF 200k new and it has lot's of intriguing aluminium and painted Exclusive Dept options. I did get a (very) nice discount since it was a showroom car. Considering the C4S performance combined with the all-year-round every-day usability I don't think the price was too much. Yes, I will take a hit on the depreciation, but so will most car owners and frankly I don't see a single competitor (read alternative) in the market. It is the ultimate compromise Smiley

The only thing I would change is the brushed aluminium parts. Nice and all, but does not fit the other interior parts, especially not the shiny aluminium and metal. I would have chosen carbon fibre on the dash, center console and doors instead. The rest is all to my liking, even the adaptive cruise control. THE grandpa option Smiley

    Car looks stunning.

But - why would I buy this for that price? This is more than insane!

Also - if you have that swiss flag on it, the car might only be desirable in Switzerland - your resell market is shrinking badly!

Why would someone in Switzerland sell his or her car outside Switzerland? Smiley

I can understand that with classic/rare cars, but a modern car as well?

I was living 10 yrs in Zurich and sold most of my cars outside. Much larger market than that tiny island of Switzerland in the middle of Europe.

Mmm... Okay, that's true of course. But isn't that a lot of paperwork (for the buyer)? I'm not sure if I would want to buy a car outside my home country, unless it's something very specific like an oldtimer or so....

But I only sold one carprivatly so far.  All the rest I traded in, which I always prefer because it's more convenient.

I think Porsche should skip these special editions - I mean, how shall I recognize the Swiss edition: "Hey dude, would you kindly open your door and let me see whether you have the special Swiss edition on board ?". Then they should simply offer these "comfort packages", which P. in Germany does already for the 991 and this should do.

Exactly thats the point - most Swiss people trade in because of weak re-sell market. If you want to have 20% more for your car (and that was what I experienced, also considering the rebate on the new one when you don't trade in) you have to sell it yourself.

Most luxury cars are going to be traded to east Europe - hard to sell expensive cars within Germany, France, etc. So - you need to have Export papers anyway - which is kind of easy and not a lot of paperwork at all. Takes you less than 30 minutes.

Actually - the Brits have a similar problem but even a bigger one. Due to the right hand steering the market is extremely small. The complete Export market is limited to overseas which makes it much more difficult.

Re: Porsche 991 Carrera 4S Swiss Edition

I´ve already bought many cars in Germany and took me 1h hour to have the papers ready for export. When I bought my old 996, I arrived in Munich at 9h, at 1PM I had saw the car, made the test drive and treat the papers. By 4PM I was on my way to Portugal again.

I haven't seen a 991 in this colour before. In the picture it looks beautiful. The only speck on this tasteful car is the lettering on the lower part of the door. I'd have it removed.

The photo is not very accurate, but it's dark blue metallic. However, it is the combination with the Platinum wheels that makes it look so special IMO. If bluelines hadn't bought that car, I would probably have!

The color is Dark Blue Metallic. As Suzy points out, it is the combination with platinum wheels that really makes it stand out.

The photo is indeed not accurate, although I prefer to call it artistic indecision Here are more accurate samples:
