used 997s turbo convertible

Hello, I've been away since a loong time, I've sell my GTR since 2011, and got some BMW's, last one is a X3 - 35d (same as RC). I plan to buy a used 997Turbo S convertible, from 2010 with 49500km, priced 94000 euros. I would like to know your opinions on this model (failures, points to be checked...) and any comment about the price. The car is sold under the "porsche approved" conditions, by an official dealer.

If you have Porsche approved warranty , you´re on the safe side. These cars are known for their reliability, never heard an engine or gearbox failure, even on tuned cars. The price seems to be VERY GOOD for an approved Porsche car with warranty, I really think you can´t any better than this price in Europe, dearlers are asking +100K for cars similar to your. Good luck and keep up posted about your purchase.

Thank you J. Seven (obrigado) yes indeed, the price looks not too bad, btw it seems that the current owner is not a "circuit freak" but a calm driver who drive his car only on good wheater. So I will have a look on the car this week or next one, and will post some picture later on (Meteor grey , black interior, all S features like carbon ceramic brakes... )

You will love it! Welcome to the boost club! The mezger engine turbos had issues with cooling lines falling apart where they connected to the block but that would not be an issue for you. I replaced mine and it is bullet proof now. Have fun and enjoy.

I can't speak for the price and I don't want to make you sick with US prices (much cheaper). Perhaps it is so well priced (for Europe) because we are past convertible driving season. Porsche prices in the US are seasonal (cheap in the winter, highest in the spring). Looks like you picked a good time of the year. That said you should make an offer of $5k less, at least, and make them work for your money. You can always pay them what they are asking if they don't take it.

About the price, that's what I did indecision and got a rebate (so 90K). This version does not have the metzger engine, but the 3.8l DFI with 530hp (997 II turbo S)

Considering the asking prices at the German Porsche Centers the above price is quite attractive. The DFI engine is said to be less reliable should you intend to modify it extensively, the Mezger engine has the benefit of several years of production as well as racing pedigree. In combination with the PDK the car should be lots of fun though. I guess you book a test-drive before you buy it?

If you intend to keep the car with Porsche´s extended warranty there should not be any issues.

The price for a Turbo S looks very attractive . And 997.2 TT has lots of improvements compared to 997.1 TT

90k for this kind of car is indeed a very good offer. If you get this car with Porsche approved warranty (you can extend this warranty after each year if the service is done at official Porsche dealers), you cannot do much wrong.

The car has 50k km? Make sure the PCCB brake discs are OK. If the car has been track raced (you never know...), the PCCB brake discs wear off pretty fast, believe it or not. A replacement is expensive and I doubt it is covered by the Porsche approved used car warranty.

the PCCB brakes on my 997 were like new after 100K + miles and 1/2 of the ORIGINAL pads were still remaining. If they don't go on the track they will last FOREVER with street driving. (If you try to wear them out on the street you will loose your licence many times over first) - they will be one of the favorite parts of the car! I wish I had them on my Turbo.

Thank you all, i'm going to see and test it tomorrow or next week, in principle the current owner did not use the car on track (Porsche dealer said that the car even never went over 120km/h indecision , and did not go outside by wintertime, but you never know) . Front tires are new, rear I will look, and about the ceramic brakes difficult to see, but I guess that the "porsche approved" inspection will care about that. I remember I had to change all 4 tires when I sold my 997S to benefit or the prosche approved...

So let's do it then, it will be my last sport car (I say that since years...) you only live once

I will keep you informed and post pictures
